Nice, easy hike and stair climb to the viewing tower, with speculate views in all directions. You can see Hungary and Slovenia in the distance and the mountaintop castle in Riegersburg. There is great little cafe at the base of the tower, with a very friendly proprietor serving local beer, wine, and schnapps. I especially like the Puntigamer beer from Graz. There are also interesting info panels around the mountaintop describing the early Roman and Celtic occupation of the region.

The visit to Erlebnispark Geier was a Bday present for me. I loved it! We only came for 3 hours, but I would spend the whole day there! The staff was very helpful - they explained everything and detail and cared about our security. Little kids are always watched. The park itself is huge - it's one of the biggest (or even THE biggest) forest parks in Europe. Maybe even 1 day wouldn't be enough to do all the routes. I didnt do the red or black ones, because they're really hard for me. The flying Vultures are amazing! Take me there again! =)

Tierwelt Herberstein

Reviewed By Maxx_Germany - Germany

The park is very beautiful, immersed in the nature. The animals have huge spaces, although some of them are very difficult to be seen (especially the Puma). Probably the best attraction are the monkeys and the buffalos. It's worth to pay the (quite expensive) ticket for a visit and I suggest to schedule a whole day. There are several restaurants, coffe shops and bathrooms, especially in the area closer to the Castle. So far so good. Anyway I was quite disappointed for some reasons that I am going to tell you now. First of all, this zoo is indicated already at the highway Exit, but inexplicably, the last two bifurcations are not indicated! So we just drove straight until realizing that we were already outside of the espected area...would it be so difficult to put two more indications after 15 already well placed ones ??? This of course made us nervous even before entry the park....
Second point: indications inside the park are a bit confusing in some bifurcations, especially in the area of the Restaurants where you still have to cross the "Asia" area but the indications only say "Africa -->". When we arrived there, we thought that we were going the bad direction and turned back, until realizing that we just climbed a lot of stairs again and for nothing because the direction "Africa" was the right one to go to the "Asia" area !!!!!!!!!!
The third point are the stairs: in the area of the restaurants there are huge stairs with something like 100 steps, with very unconfortable tracks for strollers (and remember that we did them three times, see previous issues :-((( . For the benefit of people with kids, there should be lift or treadmills similar to those of the supermarkets. Another negative point is the absence of rest areas for self-consumed meals. There is plenty of expensive restaurant but no one table to sit and eat your sandwiches. We did it on a bench, and being 3 adults one teenager and one child it was not easy...
The last Point are the Prices: one coffe Espresso 3,20 euros is really EXAGGERATED !!!!
So, honestly I have to say that if you are a couple or a group of friends with at least one person who already was there, then it is really extraordinary beautiful....but a zoo is made for children, isn't it? And in this case, if you go there for the first time with your family, let's be prepared to several troubles.

Olmuhle Fandler

Reviewed By free_fireman - Wien

Stubenbergsee

Reviewed By fovant - England

This campsite makes it's money purely off of the back of the beautiful lake and couple of nice Hotels in the vicinity. You pay for a shower, and the wifi, which you can only use whilst in the bar or restaurant, and the food is little more than average.
There is an English translated site which states that there are English speaking staff, NO THERE AREN'T! Also, the woman who runs it, Steinman, is a bit of a bulldog and hasn't smiled for years, but that maybe because she doesn't like the English ! You really can find much nicer and friendlier sites in the same area.

Schloss Obermayerhofen

Reviewed By Rox I - Indio, California

Attended a wedding that was being held in this famous castle. Decided to stay all four nights. Was a great decision. This place (even though it is incredibly old) was a five star. From the moment we checked, to the sad day we checked out - all our needs were looked after. It is clean, the food is great, the service could not have been better. How great it was to walk among such history & see all the antiques. The stone walkways, just everything. I recommend this place to anyone who is tired of 'repetition' of ordinary hotels.
