Cox Arboretum MetroPark

This beautiful 189-acre facility is a special place for visitors to escape among trees, shrubs, specialty gardens, mature forests, and prairies. The arboretum hosts year-round educational programs that teach children and adults about sustainable horticulture, plant science, and conservation. Cox Arboretum MetroPark is also home to a native-Ohio Butterfly House.

We visited the place at the end of the day. The park is relatively small, yet refreshing and nice. There were no butterflies in the butterfly house (maybe because of time). I can hardly remember my toddler so happy in a park. Wish there were butterflies for her to watch.

My business chose Legends to hold a party for a large group from all over the world - and bowling being international, it was a great choice. We started in the bar and were served huge app platters with a wide variety of typical food but all very good including soft pretzels and cheese, wings, tenders, etc. Dinner was also offered - typical bar food. Moving to bowling - the lanes were offered by the hour rather than game which made bowling a lot of fun as people mover from lane to lane mixing it up so everyone interacted together building a nice team spirit.

Wright B Flyer Aircraft Museum

Reviewed By TriStateGirl - Cincinnati

We toured the new fourth hangar with Presidential airplanes and experimental aircraft - including a flying saucer. I was surprised at how small the early sidential planes were. The facilities are very, very clean. The volunteers who staff the museum are very, very friendly and helpful. Many of them shared stories about the planes and about their experiences. We've visited the museum several times over the years but joined as friends of the museum this visit because we felt we wanted to support the effort made to preserve not only aircraft but history. It is amazing to see all of these aircraft restored and available for the public.

Smith Park

Went here to see the hot air ballon fest. It was really hot and humid but the event had plenty of cool drinks and beer. Many food truck vendors onsite for food for everyone. A few craft vendors but not a lot of stuff that interested us. They had live bands which was nice and the setup of speakers allowed you to hear from anywhere. The weather cancelled the ballon race and caused the ballon glow to be less than spectacular but the staff and event was still a hit for us. Just hoping next year to get balloons in the air and a larger glow.

Carillon Historical Park

Going in the middle of the week was a good choice. I got a personal walk around inside the transportation museum and the Wright museum. Both of these are well worth the visit, not to mention everything else on the grounds. There are some historical artifacts that you cannot see anywhere else as they literally don't exist. The grounds are lovely and I would love to come back when the weather is nice. The staff is excellent as well. I haven't been to a museum where the docents were that helpful in a long time. As an added bonus a young bald eagle pair has just established a nest above the Wright museum and you can see them flying around or sitting in the trees. Very neat experience.

Saw Jaws for my first trip to the Plaza Theater. Movie prices $5 for everyone. Reasonable concession prices. In a great location in downtown Miamisburg. Close to many restaurants and activities. They show new releases as well as brining back old classics.
