Platja de Gava

Reviewed By Ibadanboy - Nairobi, Kenya

The Platja de Gava (Gava beach) is about 15km south of Barcelona. A few minutes drive takes you to this location which has almost 4km of beach. There is a paved alking, cycling, joggin trail that runs along the length of the beach which offers some restaurnats, bars & cafes. Very popular with the locals, even when it is bsy, you do not hget the sense of being cramped. Nice area with great views over the water. Fantastic for a day out with the family. Bring the roller blades, the bicyckes, the skateboards, etc..and get ready for a fun & tiring day of running around outdoors. A splendid alternative to Sitges and Barceloneta. Recommended!

Gava Mines Archaeological Park

A very interesting site within a short distance of Barcelona city. Ancient mines of varicite (used in jewellery)worked back as far as 6000 years ago - before the Pyramids!

Reviewed By pconl - Tarragona

A short train ride from Barcelona you'll find these ancient mines where neolithic man quarried varicite, a semi precious green stone, 5000 and more years ago. You can see around the site, visit a mock up of a mine and there are audio visuals in Spanish, English and Catalan to help you understand it. Best combined with a visit to the Gava museum in the nearby town where the display shows the significance of the site at the mouth of the Riu Llobregat and the highlight is the 'Venus of Gava', a strange anthropomorphic female figure found at the mines. The site is little visited and is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Also Gava is a pleasant if unremarkable Catalan town, a change from the crowds of BCN.

Full of surprises. Very well set up, and very informative, learning experience for the whole family. Fun to walk in the fake mine , and at the same time see how the 6000 year old mine looked. The staff is very service minded.

Alucinante . El espectáculo no vale nada de 5 solo merece la pena 1 de ellos hasta había niños que estaban tan panchos. En resumen no vale la pena ni pensar en ir

I did quite a few yoga classes at this marvelous place out in the middle of nature and can't wait to go back again. Tato, the guru leading the close-to-2-hour-long-class is 100% implicated, pushing you to your limits and constantly correcting your position. You improve, you sweat and you feel wonderful during and after. I'll certainly make it back there again the next time I am in Barcelona!
