Seoraksan National Park

We planned our tour to South Korea to see the coloured leaves in fall. That is the season to go there. We were not the only ones. Bus loads of Koreans had the same idea, all dressed in expensive and professional outdoor equipment. We thought all intended for expeditions in the Himalayas. Trekking in that park is very popular, and a visit is worth the detour.

Naksansa Temple

Reviewed By nlaykhim - Singapore

The Uisangdae Pavilion is under construction; what a pity!
Nevertheless our guide recommended that we visit Hongryeonam (small temple built in a stone cave) instead. The grounds were serene and peaceful, but the views were not exactly what I had been expecting. All my photos had evidence of the construction works going on. So if you are visiting for the views, perhaps do check when the construction will be completed.
We spent some time in the tea house instead. Hmmm...Korean tea has a strong taste, and takes a while to be accustomed to. I tried two different flavours and didn't like either of them.

Nami Island

We visited korea last month and Nami Island was one of the attraction the tourist guide was telling us on our first day..Nami Island was famous because of the korean drama Winter Sonata.I did browse the internet and truly it was beautiful.Unfortunately it was winter when we visited the place so i did not expect so much. The river was frozen and there were diggings due to ice.I guess spring would be better.Overall, the place was nice.We stayed there for an hour and took the time to enjoy the coolness and the fresh air Nami could offer.

Woljeongsa

Reviewed By Susie813

We visited the famous Wiljeongsa Temples set among the Fir trees forest by taxi from Alpensia ski fields.
The Bridges crossing a small stream to reach the temples has the best scenic views. Within the temples ground, perhaps it was the day we visited, there was little snow, the Forests looked yellowish due to winter season. Temples are on smaller scale. The fir tree track is easy walking.
There was no activities at all when we visited. Also close by Trout Festival has been delayed due to winter warmer than usual, river yet to froze so fishing choices were very limited.
Temples are accessible by car, taxi. There
is bus but service is infrequent, so if you are press for time, taxi is better. The taxi costs $35000 wons around 30 mins one way. Return trip could be arranged via information centre at car park and again costs $35,000 wons. Woljeongsa entrance costs $3000 won adult, youth $500 won and child under 7 years old free. If budget is a concern, perhaps consider other alternatives.

We went in a group, its little away from thee city with a heavenly scenic view. You must understand the concept of theoretical architecture, It cannot be explained but be experienced. Modern architecture mixed with divine life. Unfortunately we went in the end of winter so we couldn't see the flowers. There is a cafeteria and we were hosted an official dinner it was splendid.

Vivaldi Park Ocean World

Reviewed By MGirls - Malaysia

Going to Vivaldi Park from Seoul take less than 2 hours but the traffic jam can be bad and take much longer time.
The lack of signs in English and the staff can't speak English is a problem. Here I am reviewing the water park which has an Egyptian theme. We pay our entrance fees and get an access no. like a watch to wear on our hand for lockers and various payments. We put our shoes in the shoes locker and will be separated into male and female sections. So if you want to meet your partner, tell them to meet at the children pools or fish spa in let say about 20mins. You can rent all sort of swimming gears, enjoy the fish spa, buy burgers and refreshment by swiping your locker no. and pay when you exit.
After meeting my partners, we went to the outdoor park, passed the herbal fragrance pools, sauna pools and into the big slide. Have great fun here. I was looking for the natural hot spring and could not find one, I could have missed an entrance into the natural hot spring or is this just a water park with "hotwater"? Correct me if I am wrong! We used the various pools, and later go to the indoor or children pools for the waves pool, cold big splash and massage pool.
After that we went our separate way, I went to the female jjimjilbang. striped and enjoyed the mint, pomegranate fragrance hot pool. I can't stay longer as much as I wanted to, went to the shower area to shower, next to the dressing rooms, there are hair dryers, comb, hair gel, body gel and plastic bag for your wet suit.
The water park is clean and life guards everywhere .

Jeongseon Rail Bike

Reviewed By Ana P - Seoul, South Korea

I made a reservation for a two-seat and a four-seat bike. I wasn't able to pay but I called them the day before our schedule and they said to just come and buy the tickets on site. We were at the Rail Bike station by 10:10 am and I was able to buy the tickets. My husband accompanied his parents in the four-seater while I and my son took the two-seater. The bike was easy to pedal ~ in fact my 9-year old son did it most of the time. The only time I took over was during the last kilometer ~ it was a little tough.
The scenery is just beautiful in the middle of June. The trees are in full bloom ~ everything is just so alive. On the way back, we took the free train and again ~ I was awed by the beauty of the scenery. Definitely worth the trip from Seoul!

A good hike with fantastic views of beautiful mountain peaks. Take bus 7 or 7-1 to the national park.
Signs are well placed and easy to follow.
Easy hike in summer, don't need any special gear, but steady shoes are a plus, especially if it's been raining.
There are lots of shops selling food at the entrance, so good for after the hike!

Gangchon Rail Park

Fun to ride the rail bike and get to see the scenic views of the countryside. It was a leisure self peddle ride and we did not find it to be tiring.
The activity had a 40mins self peddle ride before stopping for a brief stop and transferring to a 15mins train ride. At the end of the ride, a short walk to the shuttle bus to take us back to the entrance. Total time 1.5 hours.
Probably the only cons is to have to wait for slow 'riders' who clog up the track in front of you :)
Overall, we would recommend this activity as part of the day visit to Nami island.
To get to this place, you will need to take the ITX-Cheongchun express train to gapyeong station and transfer over to the normal train on the opposite platform. Do remember to tap your Tmoney card on the transfer machine. Stop at Gimyujeong statntion.
