Takes a while to get out to this lighthouse but I would say it’s definitely worth the time invested. Nice beach to walk on and a great lighthouse to just stand and look at. My advice would be that you take a picnic lunch a blanket to sit on and just spend a couple hours enjoying the view of Lake Michigan

Magnificent vistas from high up on the bluff overlooking the coastline and way out into Lake Michigan. It`s a great place to observe lake going vessels, hear the sound of the surf and especially to catch a stellar sunset.
It`s an easy and safe pull over off the highway.

This is one of the few places I have found to be able to do bonfires on the beach. The lookout up top is gorgeous, but take the drive down to the beach. There is a nice parking lot at the base of the hill. There is a road that travels south, but I've heard many a story of people getting stuck by slightly straying from the well packed road.
If you do plan on a bonfire, remember safety first. We always bring a large 5 gallon bucket with us that contains our fire starting supplies and serves as a way to extinguish the fire when done. Make sure it is well drowned and cool to the touch before leaving.

This walk out into the lake is pleasant. Our grandkids jumped in at a point where a ladder allowed them to climb out. The lighthouse has seen better days - lots of graffiti but arriving there does give a lovely view back to the shore. Don't go out there if the waves are crashing over it. A local 15 year old boy was swept away and drowned. But it's a good activity in a calm day!

Gold Coast was generous enough to donate their time, equipment and their boat to the Charity Veterans Fishing Tournament, Tight Lines For Troops. It was a pleasure to fish with Eric and Wayne on the Trophy Cup and all the vets had a great time. I booked another charter in early July because I was so impressed with their service, knowledge, dedication and their personalities that I booked another teip 6 weeks out as a Fater's Day gift for the old man. If you want to fish Northern Lake Michigan, this is the boat with the experience and personality to provide the great time you are looking for.

Had a very nice dinner here around 1900 on a Saturday evening, on their patio. Great service. Some gluten free options. Although staff was friendly, was not able to accurately assist with the full variety of gluten free options. If you go, you'll have to either ask for additional help or just quiz them a bit about what is in the food. Definitely wheelchair accessible.

Visiting in mid-January, the beautiful Lake Michigan beach in Frankfort is a different king of beauty. With strong westerly winds, the huge waves were breaking along the shore resulting in ever-growing masses of ice in the sub-freezing temps. Really a magical sight...to enjoy from inside a warm car!

Just what it says "crystal" and that is what the water is, crystal clear and such a pleasant swimming beach. Granddaughters loved it, wanted to stay and never leave. Its so clear you can see the fish and rock collecting is a must.

We'd read that there was a loop hike out overlooking Lake Michigan, with access to the beach, and decided to give it a go. It's between Arcadia and Frankfort, look out for a small green sign.
We parked at the trailhead and were the only people there. You can do it as a there and back that is slightly less steep, or a loop with a bit of steep grade. We did the loop, which climbs to begin with, through a gorgeous forest (bring bug spray, though!), to a stunning overlook. Wow, worth a bit of a climb.
From there it's a short walk to the bridge, via a boardwalk staircase. Steep, but cool to have a bit of Lake Michigan beach to ourselves. Then get the stairs back to the trail, continuing the loop back to the parking lot.
The whole thing is 1.5-2 miles, and took us under an hour in extreme heat and with frequent photo breaks. I'd definitely recommend this short but moderate hike!
