A beautiful setting in Ferntree National Park. One of many things to do there. Great walks, BBQ facilities catering for couples and/or larger groups. Plenty of parking. The Kakoda Trail Memorial Walk itself is located at the upper end of the top carpark. An awesome way to shed some kilo's or simply taking it easy and taking in the ambiance of the walk. Many steps to the top but not too hard if you take your time. Not uncommon to see joggers up and down during the walk. Used by many sporting groups. Very pleasant with many fern glades and views throughout. Plaques are a feature documenting Kokoda and the importance it played to Australia and indeed the world during the latter part of WW2. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors from Interstate or Overseas.

Recently renovated this green haven is back better than ever. Excellent child playground area with BBQ' and picnic tables close by. Toilets were reasonable. Secret walk and carved wooden door still there. Plenty of Shady trees and lovely. walks around the man made water feature. Smell the roses and enjoy the native plants. War memorial is moving. Knox CC can be proud of this park.

I love nothing better than pocking around vintage shops, you never know what you will find and this is one of the best! Well organised and presented stalls, lovely friendly staff and gorgeous handmade goodies too! Whether you are passing time on a winters afternoon or doing your Christmas shopping this place is hard to beat. Easy parking and a cafe next door. I read about this new business located in FTG and went around to see. Very cute and very quaint atmosphere. A food truck highlighting Nepalese food was on the premise. The owners are specializing in sour beers with flavourings (not to my taste) but I did like their brewed pale ale. We will go back. Seemed very very popular with locals as mums, bubs, and dads were to be found there on a Sat afternoon around 3 o clock
Popularity might force it to relocate to something bigger in the future...Love the idea of using factory locations for new food and beverage outlets. With in Boronia and Knox Ferntree gulley area there are three that I know of and I like these hidden gems

this area used to be a wasteland of low lying flood prone land with poor soil. its now a truly unique purpose built platypus habitat that is also home to numerous bird species.the amount of ducks here is a joy. it was developed by the housing developers, melbourne water and the australian platypus conservancy to harness the flood water from monbulk creek to create a platypus breeding wetland. now you have a great boardwalk with numerous bird species on show

A slice of heaven in suburbia. This 15 hectare reserve has 2 km of walking tracks running thru that takes you through the tall trees and ferns. If your lucky you may even spot a tawny frogmouth owl. When the wild flowers are in bloom its marvellous to see

Frequently named one of the best Playgrounds in the Eastern Suburbs. Huge sporting reserve that has an amazing playspace next to library. TIP: enter off Glenfern Rd or entry on Lyndale crt (you may need to walk thru this entry has gate is usually up)
