The Elizabethtown Nature Park

The Elizabethtown Nature Park (ENP) has 104 acres of gently rolling former pastureland. Freeman Creek meanders through the park as it flows to the city's largest lake, Freeman Lake. The Nature Park has been set aside as a passive park, where residents can enjoy the natural beauty of our community. A tunnel under Ring Road connects the ENP to Freeman Lake Park.

Historic State Theater Complex

Opening as a movie house in 1942, the State Theater was the hub of social activity in Hardin County for 40 years. After showing its final film, "E.T.", in 1982, the building languished as an empty eyesore for nearly 20 years. However, because Elizabethtown and Hardin County is a community that cares, the State Theater has been fully restored to reflect its original 1942 construction but with modern amenities. The State Theater is now host to not only classic movies, but live concerts, comedy shows, theatrical productions and more. In addition, The State Theater complex now includes a full service banquet room and is also home to the Hardin County Playhouse which performs inside the black-box style Plum Alley Theater. Come see for yourself why the State Theater has once again become the highlight of downtown Elizabethtown.

The beautifully restored Historic State Theater in Elizabethtown KY was the most intimate setting for Wynonna to come home and perform in her birth state of Kentucky. Gorgeous furnishings that allowed the audience to almost reach out and touch the stage; great acoustics, and lighting. The entire town of E'town deserves the accolades for such a great save of that historic building. Great job !!

Anyone who grew up in E'town, KY, knows the Brown-Pusey House. When I was a girl, it was the local library. It houses tons of genealogical data, too. Don't miss out on the tours, when available. And don't forget to stroll through the lovely garden in back, where there are often weddings and where the community gathers for fun and enjoyment.

The Cannonball

On Dec. 27, 1862, when 3,900 Confederates under the command of General John Hunt Morgan attacked and subdued entrenched Union forces, 652 strong, commanded by Lt. Col. Smith. The Union defenders, greatly outnumbered, could offer little resistance. About noon, Morgan's artillery commander, Captain White, ordered his cannons to commence firing. One ball became embedded in a wall.

OK, It's kind of silly, but given the opportunity, why would you pass up the chance to see an authentic Civil War cannonball stuck in the wall of a building on the courthouse square?
Yes, I read that it is not the original ball or building from 1864, but I don't care! The story is much better than the facts!
Enjoy!

They gave me brochures, directions & addresses. This center has countless brochures. N. Mulberry ST. is four lanes with traffic being very heavy. Crossing Mulberry can be time consuming waiting for break in the traffic. I turned right, drove 3/8 mile to make a U-turn. Plenty of parking

Having visited -- and enjoyed -- Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah during my spring break vacation, I figured it was about time to visit the oldest cemetery close to me.

Parking lot's not very big, but during my hour or so walking around, I was the only person on foot. Saw maybe two cars drive thru. So not very busy.

Saw plenty of interesting ornamental work. I wasn't looking for anything or anybody specific, but there's an electronic kiosk for folks who need help.

Also, the cemetery is A LOT bigger than it looks from Dixie Highway. I thought I'd be in and out of there in like 20 minutes. Nope.
