Apsan Park

Reviewed By CirilB - Ljubljana, Slovenia

The park is very near the city (to the south) and you can easily reach it with the bus. There are many paths and trails leading to different temples and peaks. There is also a cable car which takes you to the Apsan Mountain.
The view of the city is nice and in the summer it is a bit less hot up there. It is a nice green getaway.

Donghwasa

The temple itself is quite stunning, with interesting architecture and a peaceful atmosphere you'd find at any other temple. But Donghwa Temple also has a small-ish museum of Buddhist history and culture which I like, along with a "Big Buddha" statue. If you come in the Spring, try and get there for Buddha's Birthday (a national holiday) and you'll even get to eat some vegetarian bibimbap. The whole are around the temple has plenty of other opportunities for hiking, taking pictures, and just enjoying the fresh air. A definite "must visit" for Daegu.

While the market is open during the day, it's more vibrant at night when pushing 100 stalls line the street. There are all manner of things, but the food is the biggest draw. It ranges from standard stuff (burgers and steak) to the exotic (fried octopus, chicken feet) to the bizarre (deep fried milk).

Daegu Arboretum

Reviewed By Peters365 - Daegu, South Korea

Its the first landfill project in the country to be reconstructed as an eco-friendly park. The park is almost a square mile and includes more than 1,000 varieties of trees, wild flowers, cacti, medicinal herbs, bonsai, ponds, Fountains and groves of bamboo and fruit trees. There are several trails and grassy areas for picnics from which to enjoy the seasonal changes in the park.
Spend a day at the Daegu Arboretum. It's a reclaimed LANDFILL that until recently stored more than 4.1 million tons of garbage. It had been abandoned for 10 years prior to construction. Now the roots of thousands of native trees is working to effectively compost the waste and return this once unusable space into a place where locals can learn about how they can help protect the environment, enjoy a picnic or a cup of coffee as they stroll for one end of the park to the other.

This is a small amusement park but just enough for young children to have a great time. The entrance fee is kind of high but everything inside the park is very affordable. If you plan on going more than 3x a year they offer an annual pass. If you decide after your first visit that you want it, take your receipt and tickets to the membership office that same day and they'll apply what you paid that day towards the cost.

Daegu Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine

Reviewed By NataliePatricia - Singapore, Singapore

Off the beaten path museum but easy to find near to main road and metro station. The surrounds has lovely cobblestone streets and artworks lining the walls. Below is a herbal market filled with fragrances.
The museum is spread over two floors outlining the history and breadth of orientalist herbal medicine. Interactive displays in English with hands on activities at the end. Small shopfront with few items to buy. Nice outdoor herb garden Terrace as well.
