As we were staying locally on our way up north, this was an obvious tourist stop along the way. We immediately knew that our daughter-in-law would have particularly loved this attraction, as she is head-over-heels in love with the Precious Moments line. We were treated to a special event during our short visit to the chapel. Mr. Sam Butcher, who is the artist solely responsible for creation of the Precious Moments phenomenon and its current chief artist, was making touch ups and updates in the chapel. It's not often that one gets to see the artist at work. This is a beautiful attraction and worth the stop - even if you are not one of their greatest fans. A special note to those who are: Many Precious Moments out-of-production pieces are still available for sale in the gift shops, making this a worthwhile stop for those seeking a special or replacement piece.

Red Oak II

Stopped in while driving route 66. We parked up and strolled around the grounds. Before arriving I didn't know what to expect and maybe that was a good thing because I was blown away. We met a local resident that explained to us the creator of red oak II lived at the original red oak and was disappointed with the state it is in now so moved many of the buildings over and brought them back to life. Really is a wonderful detail place and such a great idea.

I am currently doing Route 66 with my father and brothers, we stopped at this iconic Route 66 landmark, we pulled onto the parking lot, all got out and within 1 minute approached by a rude, aggressive man talking to us like crap " where are you from, England we say, you people don't respect our laws" My father apologised and said we are leaving to which he got even more aggressive.

It is a CINEMA open to the public, if you don't want people to stop and look don't have a CINEMA open to public.

This Route 66 landmark should not be visited as proprietor is rude and aggressive.

This was the only bad experience we have so far encountered on Route 66.

Quality entertainment combines with outstanding homestyle dinner to provide an evening of fun. This mostly volunteer community has been around for an astounding 87 years which is unheard of with community theaters. It is elegant, friendly, and very welcoming to one and all. A season pass is your best deal, but check it out for yourself! I was so impressed, I have gotten season tickets now for three years and I live in Ames, Iowa, a 5 1/2 hour drive on a GOOD day! Koral does a lot of the artwork that hangs on the walls of our local hospital. I just had to reach out and touch the flowers that looked as if it was 3 D. She also has a variety of artwork on display and for sale. She has enlarged several prints for me and the outcome has been better than I imagined. I enjoy visiting Koka Art Gallery often.

Battle of Carthage State Historic Site

The Battle of Carthage was the earliest full-scale battle of the Civil War, preceding Bull Run by 11 days. Battle of Carthage State Historic Site contains a quiet meadow and the spring that made the area an encampment for both the Union and Confederate troops during the battle. The area is little changed in its appearance since the battle was fought on July 5, 1861. A few minutes off of Interstate 44, the site interprets the battle that set the stage for a decisive showdown a month later at Wilson’s Creek.

Reviewed By Cavydad - Camarillo, California

My grandfather grew up nearby. The battlefield borders the town of Carthage and it amazing that a civil war battlefield is so far west. In school we were taught Bull Run and Gettysburg. Hard to imagine that one of the early battles occurred in Carthage, Missouri.

Easy to locate on the east side of Carthage. It does not have flashing signs, but the signs were adequate to locate the site.
