Amazing coastline - the sea at its most powerful! Worth every moment of the time you will spend here to see nature at work. From the remnants of lava flows to the blowholes and the lunar/Martian landscapes of the "petrified forest" it is quite the amazing opportunity. Add the wind farms whirling in the background and it is well worth stopping by.

What a wild and wonderful place to visit. Make sure you have good walking shoes as the rock formations on the path can be a little sharp. The walk is suitable for all ages and abilities. Plenty of parking available.

The Seal Colony at Cape Bridgewater This is one of the finest short coastal walks we have been on in recent times. The walk starts from a well signposted parking lot about 20 minutes from Portland, Victoria - don’t trust Google Maps, it will take you astray as we found to our mild annoyance. It’s not a long walk. Though the signs variously say the walk will take 2.5 or 3 hours, even allowing for plenty of photo stops, it took us just over a couple of hours , though of course it depends on how time you spend watching the seals. The path is well marked and on this nice day that we happened to have fortunately chosen, the sun was warm, the ocean was brilliant blue and though cloudy, so was the sky; and the views were nothing short of sensational. It’s up and down several hills but nothing too strenuous. And there is a nice payoff at the end- the twin seal colonies. On this day we saw around 50 Australian and New Zealand fur seals frolicking in the surf. A few more sat sunning themselves on the rock platforms, Reviews on Trip Advisor suggest that if you get lucky and see seals at the jetty ( which is only a quarter of the way to the seal lookout), you can skip the rest of the walk. We only saw one seal at the jetty but even if we had seen dozens, it is still worth walking all the way to the seal colony, because the best views are in that section of the walk,(quite apart from the likelihood of seeing heaps more seals). If you do have binoculars they will come in handy- the lookout is high above the seal colonies and while the seals are clearly visible with the unaided eye, a good pair of binoculars enhances the viewing experience greatly. The seals were really active on this day which it made it great fun. Signs after the halfway mark suggest that you will be soon encountering a strong smell emanating from the seals, and all you have to do is follow your nose to find them. On this day fortunately, the wind was blowing to sea, and we suffered no olfactory assault. Almost perfect you’d say. Except- the flies! The flies! How we wished we had taken our fly nets. Strongly suggest that on a hot summer day you consider taking these mid you have them available But with that exception a fine day out for sure

Enchanted Forest Cape Bridgewater
This walk is awesome. You come upon a section of forest that is truly mystical presenting photo opportunities that just can't be beaten. The previous reviewer actually reviewed another attraction, so I doubt he even visited the Enchanted Forest. Having done all the walks and activities in the Portland and Bridgewater District, I would have to say this is the only one I would do again. A sheer pleasure and a peaceful place!

Looking to explore Bridgewater Lakes on a Sunday afternoon, we spotted the caves right by the roadside so went to investigate. Kids were rapt, and the view over the lakes to Discovery Bay was magnificent. Make sure to wear decent walking shoes as the access is extremely steep. A great half-hour detour!
