My 3 children snorkelled first with Balkysub, they then under took the Open Water PADI course.
The Balkysub team were very friendly, supportive and positive, The training was professional and focused on safety.
This review was almost a 5 star, only the process of confirming the PADI e-learning being an issue. There seemed to be many small, but frustrating problems with the e-learning, first with the log-in's, then secondly having to take screen shots of the complete e-learning and emailing (they apparently got stuck in the spam filters). Re-sitting one exam was also a little hap-hazard and not supported very well.
The reception worked hard to accommodate us with follow up dives. When issues were raised the reactions was good with many of the staff with good English.
Will definitely be back to explore the underwater nature reserve with Balkysub!

Fabulous beach in a National Park with an unfamiliar landscape, the photos don't do it justice. It has no facilities and you have to catch a bus to get there unless you drive before 09.00 in the morning, so you need to take everything you need with you. Kids love it as the slope of the beach is very shallow.

I personally was quite disappointed with the lighthouse, but is worth the visit. Nice view of La Manga and from what was explained obviously one of the best places to dive in Spain. The lighthouse itself isn't opened for visitors, so it doesn't look much from outside, but offers good views from the platform outside.

If you like hiking, this is one of the best places to go in winter. Due to weather in the area, outdoor activities are wonderful when it is cold in other places. The views are outstanding, the Beaches are wonderful and the Mediterranean vegetation makes a different experience. Check the weather, never go if raining.

As you drive to the tip of La Manga strip you’ll come a cross this bridge quite unexpectedly. It looks a bit daunting due to the steep incline and noticed most drivers pull into the car park/lay-by rather than make the crossing (there’s just a collection of villas on the far side). If you do park then it’s worth a stroll up to the apex as you get quite nice views either side plus there’s Seating as well. It’s not as narrow as some reviewers have intimated so no need to honk your horn for drivers coming the other way and you can’t exactly speed over (unless you’re completely stupid!).

I went for a weekend to dive in Cabo de Palos with friends. We contacted Divers Cabo de Palos a few days earlier to schedule our dives and their service was excellent from the first email. They answered fast and in a professional and honest way, explaining potential challenges (like tricky weather forecast for our scheduled trip) and proposing good alternatives. Raul and Isabel have a can-do attitude, they are proactive and flexible, they adapted to our expectations and to the changing conditions. They went the extra mile to make it happen, they even found and arranged an English-speaking medical doctor to come to the diving centre and perform our diving medial check up on a Saturday morning, because the Spanish regulation requires every diver to have a valid medical certificate for diving.
We had great dives and felt safe and taken care of every step of the way.
I was impressed by their facilities, especially the ladies area that was ample and clean and had everything a female diver might need - separate changing areas, showers and toilets with plenty of skin and hair products you can help yourself to if you forgot a hair conditioner or a sensitive skin aftersun balm and even ladies sanitary products if you had an emergency (plus hand soap, hand towels and toilet paper, every detail was taken care of). You almost felt like you were at a spa or something
Another great thing was their welcoming and friendly attitude, personalised approach. They will make you feel like among friends, they took time to answer our questions and solve any doubts, gave me advise about equipment when I asked, we tried different masks and wetsuits etc. I did not feel this pushy pay-and-go-away commercial focus that some other diving centres might have. Much appreciated!

This is a great beach to go for younger children as is calm waters and can wade out far and still only waist deep. This is a blue flag beach so water quality is good. There are lifeguards here. There is a toilet on the Promenade and a restaurant nearby. Also to the south of the beach you can hire paddle boats and jet skis. There aren't many and they go far enough away and out not to hear. The swimming area is netted so boats and any unwanted marine life I.e. Jelly fish can't get to the beach. Also for teenagers there is an inflatable activity area off the shore but within the nets and also only waist deep. All in all this is a great sandy well kept family beach. In addition there are also special wheelchairs for disabled to go into the water. I watched as the lifeguards helped do this with a disabled person.

Club de Buceo Islas Hormigas

We are open all year from Monday to Sunday. In our scuba diving centre you will find everything you need to enjoy your experience. Apart from guided immersions in some of the best spots in the Natural Reserve and the magnificent wrecks in the area (we have three boats always ready for you) we also offer courses of the main international diving organizations and for all levels of diving.

We dove with Islas Hormigas Club de Buceo and were well taken care of. The owner, dive masters, boat crew and equipment staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. This was hands down one of the nicest shops I’ve ever been to — clean, spacious, with hot showers (!!!) We dove Bajos de Piles 1 which was fairly easy with little to no current.

The population had shrunk back to the endemic few thousand. It was like a ghost town. Can't believe that anyone would run a tour to visit here in off season.
