We enjoy trying local beers, so we definitely liked Parish Brewery. We really liked some of their beers and also bough a crowler. It was quiet when we were there in the early afternoon. The bartender was friendly and talked to us about the different styles that had on tap.

Our tour guide was Jonathan. He was very knowledgeable about all of the plants and animals we saw. We saw lots of alligators and many different birds. It was a beautiful day and Jonathan provided not only an educational experience but also an entertaining one. We’ll be back!

LeBlanc Swamp Tours

Reviewed By Teresa L - Perkinston, MS

Called Mr. LeBlanc to schedule day and time for our tour. Beautiful day to tour Lake Martin with three couples from France, a couple from PA, and two Mississippians. LeBlanc sat the four "English" in the back and the six French in the middle and front. He spoke in French and English during the tour. I noticed that it took a shorter amount of time to tell it in English. We saw many alligators sunning on logs. They feed at night and rest during the day. Turtles, birds, ducks, and snakes were also seen. We made one stop to taste his peach moonshine and see the publications he's been featured in. Mr. LeBlanc has been in the US and French National Geographic. Recently I saw him in a Toyota commercial. A photographer gets bitten by a snake in the swamp, jumps in his SUV, and goes to find help. He finds three guys by a boat and Norbert tells him in French that it's not poisonous.

Zoo Of Acadiana

Ten miles south of New Orleans, this zoo has over 750 exotic animals.

The animals were incredibly sad. The cages were not nearly large enough for them. Most of the animals were alone and so sad. These animals need to be treated so much better. Ugh I can't express my anger on how horrible this was.

Excellent tour. Lake Martin is very beautiful and concentrates lots of different landscapes (swamp, marsh, open water) in a small area. Tour was 2 hour-long with a fun guy named Shawn who told jokes AND let us enjoy the silence and beauty of the place. One of our best memories of Louisiana and definitely our best swamp tour. Service was also impeccable, thank you Shelly!

Attended a wedding on the 30th of December! Cathedral was absolutely beautifully decorated seasonal decor. It was breath taking and so festive. The celebrant did a fantastic job. His homily and message for the newlyweds was so personalable and sincere. He had a beautiful voice as he sang acapella.

Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site

Reviewed By tedmc_12 - Richmond, Virginia

The State Historic Site honors the French eviction from Canada very well. The guide is a real asset. She spoke French to two French Canadians in attendance. What a wonderful welcoming to French speaking tourists.

Longfellow's poem is considered fiction. I am a student of history who has been around a long time. If Evangeline and Gabriel are fiction, then this story has been lived by someone like them many times over and needs to be told. I have visited Evangeline's home in Grand-Pre`, Nova Scotia. Thanks to this Historic Site I have closure on her life's journey.

Acadian Cultural Center

Reviewed By DrJim2 - Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

This center teaches the history of the Acadian peoples and their tragic history and eventual triumphs in the new world. It was history that I never was taught in school, but should have been. The introductory film is a good start but the museum adds a great deal to the film. My daughter did the junior ranger program here and we all learned a great deal from it. The staff here is friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend stopping here
