We were looking for something to do in the Bowie area and found this museum. We were not disappointed! There is no entrance fee but they do ask for donations at the end, which are well deserved. You can do a self-guided tour but you will learn so much more by having a docent lead you around the museum since they are so knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed seeing some of the radios and tv's from my youth. I definitely recommend checking it out!

Allen Pond Park

Allen Pond park is great for all. There are ball fields, soccer fields, skate board park and an ice skating rink. The approximately half mile jogging/bicycle path around the pond is mostly level and the rental paddle boats are available during the summer months. The playground is designed for enjoyment for all children, including those with limitations. Summer concerts, local bands, and the various special days, Bowie Fest for one, make it a great place for family picnics and events.

Home to the AA Bowie Baysox, PG Stadium is well-designed and well laid out. Parking is easy and there are tons of food options. As with all minor league baseball, there are plenty of family friendly activities. The promotions can get very clever, like Star Wars day, fireworks, and celebrity appearances. Once a season, they become the Bowie Baysox and do a tribute to David Bowie.

Bowie Train Station Museum

Reviewed By amberc884 - Bowie, United States

I had my boy/girl twins' 3rd Thomas Themed birthday day party at the Bowie Railroad Museum and it was perfect! We were able to use the field behind the museum and the restrooms in the Visitor Center. Paired with the games and food I had, the kids loved climbing on the caboose that's displayed outside, so they had plenty to do. There's even a small museum the parents and children can tour, which was nice and gave people something to do at the party. It's right next to an active railroad, so trains go by every so often, which was cool. The space rental was free!!!! They ask for a donation :) If you chose to go this route, things to know: 1) There are two picnic tables and bench there that you can use. But will probably have to bring some of your own tables and chairs. 2) You cannot tape anything on the buildings or caboose. We wanted to tape up a Thomas backdrop for the kids to take pictures in front of and weren't allowed, so we used the fence that runs along the perimeter. No biggie! 3) Make sure the party is during their regular hours of operation, so you can use the restroom at the Visitor Center.
