Jardin del Papagayo

The bird park is a nice place to visit, the feeding was fun for both adults and children. There are also some adventure trails for more daring visitors. And surprisingly saw a white kangaroo among other usual kangaroo! The bird shows was interesting too. Overall, don't mind coming back again.
However, the butterflies park was not worth the visit. Just saw a few butterflies, saw more plants, tortoise and flamingos than butterflies.

Castillo Templario Ponteficio

Reviewed By Gary S - Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

we took a small detour to come here between Valencia and Tortosa...glad we made the effort to have a wander here and look up the viewpoint/castle and related history.
The castle is a nice slow climb from the beach area and a nice mini workout in the summer hear. Most visitors were certainly pumping sweat on the walk around.
You can access the very top by small walk ways and steps...make the effort as the views are splendid.
The building has been gracefully restored and is well kept. The small entrance fee is worth it.

I love mercadona. It is a supermarket that offers a great choice of Spanish food. A visit to the fish counter is a must and if you have a dietary requirement, then this supermarket will cater.mim GF and the selection of gluten free foods is better than in the UK.

In centre of Benicarlo (av. Marques de Benicarlo) is a lovely city beach, who is cleaaned all days by the comunity of Benicarlo; it's a sandy beach, no sunbeds and umbrella, you must have your own or your towel; nice games for children; cafes and restaurants nearby and parkings; a joyfull beach, nice to swim and lazing in the sun., just take your pick.

What a delightful drive along the coast up to spectacular vantage points with views to die for!
The drive is not for the faint hearted, some very tight bends and drops!
The coves for swimming and snorkelling are stunning! The fish were stunning.
We drove into the hills on roads which are not really roads, my advice walk or cycle or possibly a trail bike with supplies as nothing around for miles. Worth the visit.

This is just a statue. The history is interesting and it makes an interesting picture but there is much more to this place than just this. Visit the castle and walk the tiny alley ways in the evening and it's then worth it.

Capilla del Santo Cristo del Mar

The Church of Sant Pere (St. Peter), known by everyone as the Chapel of Crist de la Mar, stands beside the Port. Traditionally, the Crist de la Mar has always been deeply worshipped by the people of Benicarló. Indeed, legend tells us that in 1650 a felucca arrived on the Beaches of Benicarló from which César Cataldo disembarked, carrying with him an image of Christ on the Cross. His arrival was deemed to be prodigal and the miracles performed by the sainted image even more so.

This was one of the cheapest "menu of the day" establishments we saw. As we only wanted a midday snack we decided it would be fine. Starter. Was in my opinion a main course paella. Main course was chicken fillet and chips. Afters was a lovely pre made tiramisu. All for 6 euro. A bottle of good beer 1 euro no hidden extras on the bill. The total bill for 2 x the above 14 euro. Great value and good service. Well done

I was a little disappointed at the size of this building but it is a good addition to the area. Not sure if it is ever open so cannot comment on that.
