My wife and I did the nine levels of darkness tour and LOVED it! Joe and Jez were awesome guides that were full of knowledge about the history of gold mining in Bendigo and a couple of nice blokes to boot. We got to climb...MoreThank you for a great review of the Level 9 Tour. This is our most adventurous tour (there are options for easier tours) so it is great that you have also mentioned our great guides.

Welcome oasis on a hot day with galleries on either side upon entry. Apart from picking up brochures & getting info from friendly staff - this centre also has a "made local" gift shop. So if you have no time to visit Bendigo pottery, you can purchase some classic pieces here as well as other unique & the usual souvenirs - better quality. Loved the model of Deborah Mine in entry hallway. Post Office area was interesting. The other gallery displayed & retailed garden artwork.

This is a must see when visiting Bendigo. The Dragon along is beautiful and you can also see the old dragon. The museum has lots of history of gold mining and the Chinese in Bendigo area. I have taken locals, overseas visitor and out of town people and they all have enjoyed the experience. Easter is a busy time but great time to see the Dragon doing it thing through the streets of Bendigo.

The Poppet Head lookout tower is always a favourite with the sweeping views of the city and beyond. The grounds are well cared for and the Observatory showcases flowers including orange blossom, gardenia, hydrangea and poinsettia. There are also outstanding statues in the Gardens and three towering palms at the main entrance.

Bring your walking shoes for a pleasant walk around this beautiful clean lake. The walking track is marked every 100 m so you know how far you have walked. It's no problems for the kids and there are many spots to stop, relax or view some of the wonderful scenery on your walk. The dog will love it too but it must be on a lead....it will meet many friends on the walk as well! The kids can play in the enormous playground there that is fully fenced for extra security. While they are playing you can grab yourself a coffee and something to eat from the food vans on site. You should bring your own food also because of the under cover barbeque facilities and plenty of Seating for any large gathering.......the kids will enjoy the visits of the variety of ducks and swans that will want to join you for your meal!! The famous Bendigo trams can be caught at this venue for whatever sites you want to visit and there is an excellent restaurant on site as well which encourages you to bring your dog and provides water for them. Parking is not too difficult to find and if you make the effort to visit you'll be pleasantly surprised and very happy that you did.

Driving around the wineries of northern Bendigo, we literally stumbled on the Great Stupa which loomed out of the bushland on an unsealed winding road.
An awe inspiring construction with plenty to see but much to be done... a great work in progress... as impressive as any Asian equivalent we have seen anywhere in our travels. The potential of the landscaping creates a vision which will provide a great sense of calm in the years to come. Amazingly there is already an aura of peace and mystery around this whole site, tread softly and feel uplifted.

Although there are some (faded) botanical names apparent this is mostly a gorgeous park to spend time with the family. If you go not expecting to learn anything but to enjoy a day in the park you will appreciate this great facility. Plenty of Seating, BBQs, shade, paths, wildlife, Playgrounds to make it worth a visit.
