The 10 Best Things to Do in Bardolino, Italy

November 6, 2017 Velvet Mowry

You’ll find vineyards and olive groves in Bardolino, as well as beaches on beautiful Lake Garda. This town isn’t as popular as other area resort towns, so you shouldn’t find huge crowds here (except perhaps during the local olive oil and wine festival in late September and October). If you’re traveling with kids, make a beeline for the Gardaland and Aqua Paradise amusement parks.

We visited Villa Calicantus after Reading trip advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. Daniele is very passionate about what he does. He was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The actual vineyard is small so don't expect a huge production. We tasted 3 different wines and did purchase a bottle of the final one! Each wine was accompanied by a different type of local cuisine - the first mushrooms in olive oil being our favourite, then local salami followed by 3 local cheeses. A lovely walk through the vineyards finished the evening with a chance to see the sunset across Lake Garda if the weather is on your side. Also thank you Daniele for your recommendation of Al Crespo in Garda - a wonderful tasting seafood tasting platter.

Lovely walkning path i central Bardolino. But croweded and lots of viking as well. Many runners care less for running över you, be careful. Anyway the walkning path goes by Riverside and you get a nice evening breeze after ski day in the Sun. Lots of possible stops can be done at bars as coffee places.
Don't miss it.

Cantina Zeni e Museo del Vino

The Zeni winery is located on the first hill beside the city center of Bardolino. From 1870 the Zeni Families have been dedicated in to the growing of the local vines and in to the production of the veronese classical wines. This wines are: Bardolino, Custoza, Lugana, Soave and Valpolicella, where inside the classical area the family has one more winery. From 1991 inside the winery in Bardolino is located the Wine Museum, a collection and proof of the local and ancient veronese wine tradition. The Wine Museum and adjacent Vinoteca are free entry for all individual visitors. For groups of 10 or more people the reservation is required. For both individual visitors and groups we required the reservation also for the visit of the entire winery. The Zeni winery is proud to present GO the olfactory gallery, a new eno-sensory tasting, which is the first of its kind in Italy.

The perfect spot to spend a relaxing day and given the time of the year it wasn't heaving. Pretty much everything is catered for, inflatable lido's, quality loungers and even the rock shoes where provided (should you need them) to enable us to wade the few yards from the well maintained grass area into the lake for a welcomed cool down .
Food was spot on, the service responsive and friendly - prices pretty good too given the location I'd of expected a year in my eye when receiving the bill but was pleasantly surprised.
The guys sorting the loungers we're brilliant and welcomed us with friendly, prompt service.

Like many other old churches San Severo is now bits and pieces from over the centuries. It must have once been resplendent with frescoes that are now damaged and faded. However if you look hard enough you will see ones that allude to good and bad government, great beasts, and rows of saints.

We decided to visit the winery for the free tour one evening during our stay in Bardolino. Staff very friendly, knowledgable and approachable. Tasted 6 wines at the end and also requested to taste one not on offer, which they allowed. We bought a couple of bottles of the one we liked. Very pleasant experience!

There is also an introductory video as you go in as to what you can find in the museum on the different levels. Friendly staff help the whole visit be very worthwhile.
