Antrim Castle Gardens

The Antrim Castle Gardens site is an absolute gem and you will find nothing like these 400 year old Gardens anywhere else. A recent £6m restoration project which received generous support from Heritage Lottery Fund has now preserved this historic site for generations to come. The Gardens are a unique living museum, with layer upon layer of design features and planting added over the centuries. Indeed, rarely is so much history preserved on one site. The many exceptional features include the ancient Motte, the Large Parterre, the Yew Tree Pond and the Pleasure Gardens.

As a local family lifestyle photographer i spend a lot of time in the Gardens and i have to say they are absolutely fantastic. Extremely well maintained to the point when we were going to play pooh sticks, we couldn't find any sticks or twigs lying on the ground. The site is great to walk around and has a bit of everything, the river, historical ruins, forest park walk, parking & a coffee shop.
All my families love meeting me here, it is definitely worth a visit rain or shine or even snow!

We had a great session on Saturday for my son's 12th birthday, with 6 of his friends aged 11-12. Rachel was really helpful, flexible and professional beforehand, scheduling us in with other groups of similar age. On the day itself, the staff were very friendly, helpful and focused on marshaling their respective armies such that the kids got the best out of each game. The inclusion in the price of photos taken by the staff throughout was another another nice touch. Great value - we'll be back!

Called into the visitors center or the Old Court House for lunch. The history of the building goes back to the 1726 and was the oldest working Court House in operation till it in There is lots of information of places to visit etc. The restaurant had an array of food to offer for lunch and I never seen a sausage roll so big. We had a tuna salad and a chicken salad which came with a large slice of wheaten bread. It was nicely presented and tasty. I noticed there was an selection of wines and spirits for sale with your lunch. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The toilets were immaculate. Will return again when in the area.

Mill Race Trail

Reviewed By JaygirlF - Northern Ireland

This little gem on the edge of Antrim allows extensive river walks and you can enjoy the peace and quiet on one side which has a forest walk or down towards the other side which is all open and leads through green fields with cattle grazing. Perfect for letting the dog loose. I would recommend if you are going in winter through the forest side that you wear boots as it can be a little mucky. The walk on the other side is very clean as there is a road the whole way along the river.
