The 10 Best Things to do in Alphabet City/Loisaida, New York (NY)

June 22, 2021 Ying Subia

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

Lucky

Lucky is a comfortable neighborhood bar, delightfully douche-free, with a warm, whip-smart staff that doesn’t suffer fools. It isn’t for everyone. But it may be for you. Marvel at the eclectic music on our jukebox. Enjoy a beverage in our beautiful garden. Introduce yourself to someone. Bask in the glory or no TVs. Welcome. Prices range from $3 for a can of Genessee to $12 for a fancy cocktail. Our menu changes with the seasons -- as well as assorted holidays -- and we love a theme! We are a “dive bar for grown-ups,” which means a toilet you aren’t afraid to sit on and a glass of wine you won’t spit out. We encourage the celebration of everything, from birthday parties to book releases, engagements to wedding receptions, and we often host clothing swaps, poster painting parties and other civic-minded fun.

The Kidz Theater production of "A Chorus Line" was riveting! It rivaled last years production at City Center! I fell in love with the actors, the vocals were superb and their dancing was uplifting. The energy these young performers brought to their performance was exhilarating. The teenagers in this company are Broadway-bound. It's a great idea to see these shows if you are a theater aficionado, as you will be able to follow their progress and later, be able to say, "I saw her perform back when she was still in high school". I have seen three of their shows: Cabaret, Rent & Chorus Line and every single one has been an edge-of-your-seat, don't blink kind of amazing show. Do yourself a favor and check out Kidz Theater!
