Plage de la Grande Conque

Reviewed By Nigel W - Agde, France

Composed of volcanic sand, therefor black, this may not be the most comfortable beach in Cap d'Agde but it is certainly the most interesting. If you snorkel its rocky sea bottom makes for some very pleasant moments especially for the less experienced. The path down to the beach is fascinating and the view from the top well worth the visit.

Musee Ephebe

Reviewed By Hilary V - Weymouth, United Kingdom

We went to the museum basically because it was raining, a rare event this summer, and we were surprised and delighted. In the middle of an industrial-sized beach resort, here is an oasis of culture! Beautifully and accessibly presented as well as scholarly, it gives you a totally different angle on the Agde area, from the first century BC onwards. Some of the archeological discoveries were made during the resort's construction, showing that there is a silver lining to just about everything! The famous statue of Alexander is stunning. A pity the equally famous statuette of a Roman child was away on loan to a Japanese museum, but we shall be returning to see it sometime.

The section past Paralia in front of Bagnas Preserve was action central witness the buzz & din of the crowd; the guys plying the preserve brush. I didn't witness hot 'n frantic activity. One scene an old guy plowing a middle ager with accomplices was dull. The sea washes up beautiful shells we don't have. European men aren't circumcised. Nice breakers almost Maverix;). Don't tell me about lit, art, architecture, cuisine at the nudist beach honey, or make sense please. Villagey fun.

Aqua Park CAP D'AGDE

Reviewed By hkist - Edinburgh

Mom, kids 11 and 12 all went on the circuit at Aqua Park. Great fun. Very difficult so I wouldn't recommend for smaller children.
We came 1st week of July before most countries (incl France) had school holidays so there were few people there, but the set up at the ticket desk suggests that queues do happen. All the staff and lifeguards very helpful and fun.
The bar has sandwiches and fries, hot dogs. All reasonably priced for the area!
The 4 euro smoothies are real fruit but they do add tons of sugar.
You can do 3 hour morning or 3 hour afternoon, or a single hour at any time. If you do this then best to come 1-2pm when the half day tickets are not valid.
Mornings are less crowded generally, they say.

This is a substantial beach in an area which normally offers just small bits of coast. There are several beach restaurants, boats and tother water things to rent and very agreeable people. there is a large parking area, but it is also close to most of the hotels in town and can be a short walk.

Cap d’Agde Naturist Village

Reviewed By naturistcouple1234 - Washington DC, District of Columbia

We were vacationing in Catalonia and decided to spend a day driving into France and visiting Cap D'Agde Naturist Village. We are long time naturists and try to incorporate naturism in our travels and daily lives. Cap D'agde is located on the mediterranean coast just east of the Pyrrennes. The Naturist Village is a large section of the city that is completely dedicated to the naturist lifestyle.
We drove to the gate and paid the daily visit fee since we were not staying the night there. After paying and driving into the gate, we found ample parking and parked the car and left the clothes behind. The predominant feature of the village is the Heliopolis. It is several large circular multistory apartment buildings facing the beach. The first floor of the Heliopolis are many shops and restaurants. The shops are what you would find at any beach side town except that all the patrons are nude. There are grocery stores, cell phone stores, cafes, wine shops, etc. We are naturists from the states and it was so refreshing to see how naturism in Cap D'agde is so well accepted. After having some food at a cafe, we shopped for a bit then made our way down to the beach. It is a large beach and marina area that is part of the naturist village. You would be hard pressed to find any textiles on the beach during the day. Most people seem to walk the beach or play in the surf. There are a couple beach restaurants and bars as well that seem to be fairly busy. The western end of the beach tends to be more families and was not as crowded. As you walk east, after the bars, the beach narrows slightly due to the dunes and the crowd tends to be more couples and a bit more crowded. We definitely saw some less appropriate beach behavior there but it seemed to be casually accepted. In the afternoon, we also went and checked out the foam party at one of the beach bars. We didnt really spend much time in there because it was very packed and was clearly a 'swingers party'. We usually arent too bothered by seeing others in the act or letting others see us but we definitely were not prepared for how crazy it was in there. We spent the rest of our time on the beach and sadly had to redress and head back to Spain.
Overall, we would definitely go back. It is truly an amazing place. The beach area is beautiful and the people are friendly. Next trip we plan on spending a few days there. We probably will avoid the lifestyle heavy places like the foam party and certain spas but overall we really didnt get the swinger vibe during the day. But we were only there for a day as well.

This fortified Cathedral stands on the banks of the River Herault and is a place for quiet contemplation on a hot day. The outside is built of grey/black basalt giving the building a rather somber look but venture inside and things by contrast are pleasantly different.

Luna Park

Reviewed By gammeldansk80 - Flensburg, Germany

They have a fair choice of rides (for the average European, I don't know if Americans wouldn't get disappointed). Staff selling tickets were impressive in multitasking, texting and playing with their smartphones while serving their customers. You pay per ride (quite much for some of them) and the tickets are not interchangeable, so an evening with several children can get quite expensive. Opens 20h30.
