The Chapel of Peace is a must see when visiting Acapulco. You can see this magnificent Cross from just about everywhere in Acapulco. The chapel is a place of worship for all faiths. You can also purchase a vault for six people's ashes they have larger and smaller. While visiting you will enjoy the wonderful architectural work. A single family Carlos Trouyet and his wife Millly build this beautiful memorial in memory of two of their sons Carlos and Jogre who died in a plane crash in 1967. The cross is approximately 138 feet in height, 66 feet foundation; the tallest monument in Latin America. Located in Las Brisas. You will walk up a hill from your car... then steps to the chapel not for the faint of heart. The Chapel is simple in design and holds about 200 people. The hands of Brotherhood are something to see. The water features and flowers contributes to the peace and serenity of this memorial. The view of Acapulco is spectacular.

El Fuerte De San DIego is an excellent reconditioned and preserved Spanish fort with a storied history and an excellent museum on site. Exhibits include art, furniture, weaponry, pottery, clothing, maps, and depict the history of the area from the time of the earliest native inhabitants through modern times. The views from the top of the fort are stunning.

I have been to Acapulco many times and have seen the cliff divers perform many times. This last visit, however, my friends took me to see the sunset at this beautiful location and it is something that is not to be missed. First, we saw spouting whales in the little cover, next we drank fresh coconut water and after that we watched the sun set. There were many other people enjoying this spot without the famed divers so we knew we were on to something. Don't miss this!

A must see!!! We have gone many times over the years and love the night divers! Take your camera!!! many places to eat nearby !! Dont forget to tip the divers after the show folks! They are risking their lives for poeples entertainment!

The Diego Rivera mural is impressive, but the history of it is even more colorful. It was done as marriage proposal to other artist Lola... all depicted animals and characters have important meaning... the building behind the wall is an actual work studio of Lola and is a private property of her family nowadays, sadly it is not available for tourists. But definitely worth to visit this place and expand knowledge of Diego and Lola’s love story.

Wanted to experience Pie de la Cuesta since I saw gorgeous photos from reviewers on Trip Advisor. Got great info and advise from the Acapulco Trip Advisor Forum. Since I was going solo I had some concerns. For anyone that wants to experience a spectacular sunset, take a drive out there. I wanted just to walk the beach and see the sunset, so I left the Costera around 2 pm. You have a choice of taking a private driver, a taxi from your hotel, taking a bus to the Zocalo and then a taxi to Pie de la Cuesta but if you do it my way experiencing the bus ride from the Costera to Pie de la Cuesta it is sooo cheap.
The bus is green and white and says Pie de la Cuesta but you have to make sure that what is written on the windshield says Playa or Playa Luces. It is an old bus and a bumpy ride but only costs 7 pesos. The bus ride is approx. 40 minutes.
Imagine experiencing a bus ride where the bus driver stops for gas along the way and also near the central market vendors come on the bus selling water, bananas and colorful ices in a round bag with a straw sticking out.
I would advise to get off the bus in Pie de la Cuesta at Tres Marias Restaurant so you have a landmark. If you don’t speak Spanish write on a paper “Tres Marias, por favor” and show the driver when you get on the bus.
There are two places I am familiar with to pick up the bus. Originally I was told to pick it up on the Costera beach side across the street from Sanborns and Scotia bank (near Zocalo). It no longer stops there as there is the new red Acabus stop at that location. It is now located about 3 blocks behind Sanborns near Woolworths I think on Av Mayo. The location where I took the bus is on the Costera beach side half circle (where different bus pick up) just a few blocks from Parque Papagayo. You will also notice at this location there is a road sign indicating Pie de la Cuesta with an arrow to turn off from the Costero. The street might be called Av Diego Hurtado de Mendoza- Hwy 200 on map.
Make sure when leaving Pie de la Cuesta by bus after the sunset you catch the last one by 7pm. The sunset is from 6:15pm to 6:45pm. Surprisingly a disco bus was coming and I said Zocalo and the driver nodded. I took it for 8 pesos.
Went on the Sunday which was a holiday week end so the restaurant Tres Marias on Lagoon side and beach side (across street from each other) was packed with people. On the beach there is horse back riding and ATV (4 wheelers or dunebuggys) adult size and smaller ones for kids which are driven on the sand along the beach. It is beautiful to watch the ferocious waves and makes for a beautiful photo. It is very dangerous to go in the ocean here but saw a few taking a chance. Everyone comes on the beach for the sunset otherwise the beach is very quiet and you can walk far with no one around.

This is the beautiful Bsay of Acapulco beach. It is clean, the water is warm. There were not strong currents like in other tourist cities in Mexico on the Pacific Ocean. The water water was warm and quite enjoyable during the month of December. This is also a nice beach to stroll in the evening to watch the sunset.

What a wonderful idea! Put your history museum in an historic fort overlooking Acapulco Bay! This is a wonderful museum with interesting and fascinating exhibits and artifacts. Having it inside a historic structure just adds to the whole experience! Air-conditioned and well-kept this is a wonderful museum. One of the best I have seen!
