Hidden gem! Interesting and beautiful. Staff does a great job organizing and conducting the cave tour. Our granddaughter was amazed seeing a real cave as well as the waterfall right down the road. It was a gorgeous fall day for exploring all the surroundings in Blanchard Springs and Mountain View.

Old Independence Regional Museum

Old Independence Regional Museum, located in Batesville, Arkanasas, provides prehistorical and historical information about the 12-counties that made up Old Independence County.

My husband and I were in Batesville for Scottish Fest at his alma mater, the fabulous Lyon College; however, the cold, April rain put such a damper on the outdoor festivities, we decamped to one of our favorite museums in Arkansas! We have been coming here for several years to peruse their collection of historical records and to work on my genealogical project. The staff is friendly and helpful, the exhibits are educational and regularly updated, and the well stocked Gift Shop always receives a “donation” from me, a jewelry maven!????

Awesome place to visit! So many helpful and informative artists. Want to go back already. Many thanks to the printer (oh how I love books and the printed word!), the broom maker, the beeswax soap and candle maker, the textile expert and the docent at the log cabin for your time, knowledge and joy of your crafts!

Crown Lake

Reviewed By oliveroakforest

you won’t even find sufficient amount of pictures and infos on Google about this place, but it will surely unwind and unplug your family beyond your expectations. I took some pictures and short videos of crown point lake from different places and time, using an iPhone, with no lighting or color editing at all. With no hustle and bustle, you will notice the colors of sky, clouds, trees, water and stars are constantly changing, so are the sound of wind, birds, water, crickets and children. If you stay a few days, this place will subtly remind and embrace your existence and more so, it’ll gently remind you the existence of God— more than a lot of sermons I’ve heard. Crown point resort is no where near a 5 star hotel, but their comfortable log houses are perfectly blended in the nature. The private beach will make you forget about time, there were never more than 2-3 families to share with. We reserved a log house for a whole week and arrived 2 days later, just to leave it vacant and make sure the house is virus free, but we found out that they do skip a week of reservation after a guest check out, and they skip a door for check in as well, very very cautious. I hope likeminded people will enjoy this hidden gem, while I also hope this hidden keep being so private and intimate. by the way, horseshoe bend was awarded the safest city in Arkansas in 2018. People are very friendly here, when we did grocery shopping in a Local market, a handsome young lad who works for the market pushed the cart and helped loading our groceries in our car. My boys repeat “people are nice here” everyday.
