Great ski lessons for our family. Friendly and experienced instructors who spoke good English and catered to our mixed ability group well. We were able to hire equipment as part of the lesson package including helmets for adults. Clear pricing, no hidden extras. Great experience thank you!

For the whole family, it was a unique experience in a breathtaking Alpine environment. Very kind and professional approach, which makes you feel safe. The attraction is exciting and unusual but not at all risky. Our only regrets are that we did not book at least two rides per person so that we could enjoy it better and that we did not plan to stay a couple of hours more to explore the surroundings. The impressive ski-jump complex (there are 8 ski jumps) is worth a visit even without any other activity. There are enough parking places, where you can park for the whole day for € 2.5.

A very beautiful natural park with its mesmerizing emerald coloured lake. The entire place is very tranquil and serene, and quieter than the popular Lake Bled. The place is very picturesque, even though the lake is small. We really loved our time here and it's one of our favourite place in Slovenia.

Vrsic Pass - Julian Alps

At an altitude of 1611 metres, the mountain pass at Vrsic is the highest in the eastern Julian Alps and provides a natural link between the Savska and the Soska valleys. You may wish to have a relaxing cup of coffee or even stay the night at the Ticarjev mountain hut, which is located at the top of the pass. There are five mountain huts on Vrsic offering you rest and refreshment. Just off the main road winding up Vrsic, at an altitude of around 1200 metres rests the Russian chapel. Whilst ascending Vrsic, you can admire the natural rock-carved face of the lovely maiden Ajdovska deklica and a natural rock-window created in the face of the Prisank mountain.

We drove this 25km stretch from Kranjska Gora to Trenta valley at a slow pace, soaking in the glorious views and experiences en route. We spent over 3 hours completing the route with ~50 hairpin bends, armed with a very useful map provided by the friendly Kranska Gora tourist office at the start of this journey (do drop by and ask for the one with the stops marked and attractions labelled). September seems a perfect time to go, with modest traffic (cars and cyclists), place to pul over/park at most stops and favourable weather. Some of the memorable stops included Lake Jasna, the Russian Chapel, the Pagan girl, Postarski Dom (with a clearer view of the face as well, and some interesting WW bunker relics) and the source of River Soca. Fascinating!

Ajdovska Deklica

Ajdovska deklica is the rock face of a maiden that found its own special place in folk fable. Legend has it that the Ajdovska maidens foretold the people of Kranjska Gora their fortune at birth. They also advised the people when to sow their crops and when to harvest them. One of the maidens foretold the son of a hunter that he would kill the Goldenhorn which inhabited the surrounding mountains. This prophecy angered the other maidens who punished Ajdovska deklica by turning her into rock.

Liznjekova house

The most well preserved secular building is the 300-year-old Liznjekova house in the centre of Kranjska Gora. This was a rich landowner’s home and, at one time, it was also an inn. The wooden part of the house was built in the second half of the 17th century while the small, brick room beside was constructed in the 18th century, in the Baroque style. In its time the Liznjekova house was an example of the most advanced architecture in Slovenia. Its design was the prototype for other farmhouses with a cellar that served also as a barn, it had a brick ground floor with a wooden living room, a brick-built black kitchen, a small bedroom, broad hall, small room and another small bedroom off the hall and one wooden pillar above the entrance. The house retained its original architecture until the end of the 19th century. Since then, nothing has been changed apart from the ground floor windows and new walls which have been installed in the hall and the side entrance. In addition to the black kitchen and the old room layout, nowadays the building houses an ethnographic museum collection and a permanent exhibition of the life and work of Josip Vandot, the author of the popular children’s stories about Kekec.

Ski lessons We could not be happier with their service. We booked several individual ski lessons in January (for two adults and one child, either beginners or returning to the slopes after a few years) and got to ski with six different instructors. Each and every one of them was extremely kind, friendly, and patient. Parents should not worry as they surely know how to work with children. Our six-year-old is always very reserved when it comes to meeting new people but both instructors were able to get him relaxed and eating out of their hand within ten seconds. Equipment hire Even though it can get quite hectic in the morning, all of the employees keep calm and make the effort to give each person their undivided attention - with a smile! Despite the huge number of customers that come through their shop every day, they remembered me when I came back after a week. I guess that says something about how personal their approach is. All in all - we had a lovely experience and will definitely be back next year!
