The Schiphol NS Dutch Railways

Reviewed By arka_gh - Seattle, United States

We took a NS Sprinter train to go to Zaanse Schans (Zaandam Kogerveld station) from the Schiphol airport station. The services are very efficient, the trains are pretty clean and punctual. As a rail fan, I liked those trains in particular. The ticketing system is also very simple. If you have an OV-Chipkaart, that can be used both in NS and GVB services. Though for NS services, you have to maintain a balance of 20 EUR.

The Panorama Terrace

Reviewed By suziestar - Nailsea, United Kingdom

We had over 7hrs to kill before our flight so scoured the airport for things to do, we stumbled upon the Panorama Terrace. It was brilliant a huge space that even had an empty disused aircraft for you to board and look around. It was very windy and cold there but would imagine in the summer would be a lovely place to sit and watch the daily goings on of the airport. They are doing works to this area and when these are complete the place will be a great place to visit. They are building a new bar and restaurant which will be a great place to chill in the summer. There are picnic tables and seating areas so you can bring your own food or takeaway food from the airport outlets. I wish we still had something like this at our local airport in the UK, its great place to kill time.

Nederlands Transport Museum

The Dutch Transport Museum in Nieuw-Vennep showcases how 2000 years of transport has contributed to the transformation of the Netherlands – from swampy river delta to international logistic hub – and the world. The exhibition and workshops also highlight how the founders of this pop-up museum help restore and/or keep operational the Dutch mobile heritage.
