Navy Seal Museum

Reviewed By Y68JMdavidp - Topeka, United States

This is an outstanding museum you don't want to miss. We spent 4 hours going through all the exhibits. You can see it in half the time if you don't attend the 2 hour movie, but it is a highlight as it provides you the history of the Seals from beginning to present and we learned a lot. I highly recommend it. You will enjoy sitting in a black hawk helicopter, maybe seeing and petting a Navy K9 puppy, seeing Seal Delivery vehicles, maybe trying out the obstacle course, and getting a real appreciation for all the Seals do! You can even dress up for a photo opp!

Since its remodel in January 2017, the center houses five educational exhibits including Marine Drug Discovery, Marine Mammal Research & Conservation, Aquaculture & Stock Enhancement, Marine Ecosystem Health and Ocean Engineering. Visitors are welcome to explore these exhibits on their own or participate in a free 30-45 minute interpretive tour provided by a FAU Harbor Branch Graduate Student. The center also features a video theater, aquaria relevant to research topics, interactive displays, a touch tank, gift shop and student information station. While admission and interpretive tours are free, donations are accepted and contribute to Harbor Branch outreach initiatives. Group visits (10 or more people) are also available and must be reserved in advance.

The graduate students that are the tour guides are very knowledgeable and informative. Kids as well as adults will enjoy the touch tank. Lots of really neat sea critters to see and touch. It's amazing what this research has done to continue finding new medical cures. They also have an awesome tour of the campus you can take on a golf cart and after hurricane season passes the lagoon tours will start up. An affordable gift shop is there to get a souvenir of your experience!
