The Flint Institute of Arts is a real gem! And it continues to get better each year. Their permanent collection is wonderful with a great cross-section of time periods, media, and subject matter, enhanced with the recent opening of their superb glass galleries. I also love the local connections to the works, whether by artist or subject matter or donor. On top of that, they bring in some top-notch exhibitions to share. I visit a couple times a year, driving up to Flint to see the FIA's exhibits of works by Rodin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Remington & Russell as well as Japanese prints, glass, and others. On this latest visit, I wanted to see the Visions of American Life: Paintings from the Manoogian Collection, 1850–1940. My friend had never been to the FIA before and just totally loved it all!! When there is not a pandemic, they have wonderful programs. We have been pretty bored since we cannot go many places during this time. We go to For-Mar a couple times a week to walk the trails and enjoy nature. You may see deer, turkeys, geese, frogs, turtles, snakes chipmunks and more on your visit if you’re looking! No pets allowed. There is also a tree house that was featured on tv but once you’ve seen it a couple of times, it’s not that exciting. We go mostly to look around the pond. There are also a couple of bridges.

My children loved every bit of this place! The firetruck, grocery store, post office and pizza shop were their favorites! Oh and the stage! They loved that too! So much fun! And outdoor activities too!

While some of the restaurants are a bit pricey, I love the variety of foods, arts, entertainment, and - of course - the availability of fresh produce. Only being open three days a week makes each day crowded. But I guess that adds to the liveliness of the place. I love the new space. It's a nice addition to the Downtown Flint area.

We have been going to Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad since my grandchildren were very young and now as adults, the still go with their parents and grandparents every year. It is a family tradition every year to trick or treat in the Village, see the Magic Show, take lots of photos, eat donuts and drink cider and to ride the Huckleberry Train every year. Making memories that will last forever.

Fun and very easy hike from stepping stone falls to Blue Bell Beach. Nice to take a swim before heading back.
