Although the sand is wet because of high tide in the evenings, still a very fun, clean beach. We were able to check out sand toys and a boogie board from our hotel (SeaPointe Resort), which made it even more fun. Beware though, the water is COLD.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

Open in Spring from March 1st through Mothers Day. For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad is a must visit when you are in North San Diego County. Every spring the flowers are in full bloom and it is wonder to see by air or in the fields up close and personal. There are wagon rides through the fields or you can walk through and take a picture in designated spots with all the flowers around you. When I have visitors here in the spring. I always take them there and they are astounded by the beauty and when they come back for a visit they always want to go back!
