May 6, 2022 Yuk Petri

Maputo, the lush capital of Mozambique, sits on the shore of the Indian Ocean. Founded as a port town by the Portuguese, the influence of travelers and traders from Africa, Asia, and Europe, has made the city a diverse and lively metropolis. The area is famous for its prawns in peri-peri sauce, a spicy concoction made from an especially hot African chili pepper. Calm down your taste buds afterwards with a beer at one of the many bars and nightclubs in the Fere de Populare neighborhood.

Also known in town as the lemon-squeezer, this church is a landmark not to be missed when visiting Maputo. Its shape is particular and recognizable among all. The contrast of its materials: rough concrete and delicate stain steel is to be mentioned. Its games of light created by the disposition of the stain glasses inside is adding to the particularities of the place. The church is open to the public for visits but also for worshipping.

FEIMA - Feira de Artesanato, Flores e Gastronomica

Reviewed By Yachal_D - Durban, South Africa

This was an amazing stop! The market is gorgeous with vendors selling everything you can think of. The market is also surrounded by a nursery and has a few restaurants/cafe/bars which serve nice cold beers on tap. The kids area needs a little TLC but our toddler enjoyed walking around.
