After seeing the great reviews I ear marked Omkafe for a visit whilst staying in Riva del Garda. The museum upstairs was quite interesting then we ventured downstairs where we were offered an expresso to try. As I drinker of coffee with milk I wasn't sure about the tasting so we opted to go with the Platino beans. Since arriving home the beans have not lasted long as when made to our liking it was simply delicious coffee...our only regret now is not buying a larger supply. They also have lots of gifts , coffee chocolates etc so if you love coffee make sure to drop in.

Mostra Delle Miniature e Dei Presepi

How do you feel about entering a SACRED and a bit magical world? It's right here, under the Congress Hall of Andalo... a place where everything seems to have become smaller to be easily visited in all of its beauty. Do you know the park Italia in Miniatura? The idea is very similar, here in Andalo you can see a similar exhibition but with a religious-based topic. They're the sacred miniatures of the permanent exhibition, that offers a series of masterpieces of solidarity created by the experts hands of Gino e Ivan Simoni and starting from this year, there's also the wooden nativity scene created by Elio Pellegrini. Cathedrals, houses, detailed sacred representations that are real masterpieces to find out and be amazed! A special and unmissable world that will surprise and marvel you and your children. Remember...the magic of this place is created only if you talk quietly. An unmissable visit during your holidays in Andalo!

South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology

Meet here the world’s famous chalcolithic ice mummy called "Ötzi, the Iceman" who was found with all his belongings on the Similaun glacier in 1991. Situated in the city center of Bolzano (pedestrian area), the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology displays the oldest wet mummy in a sophisticated ice cell and shows Neolithic craftmanship in his equipment: the world’s most antique clothes and the hunting equipment with the world's oldest fully preserved copper axe.

The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology is centered on the iceman "Ötzi" that was discovered in the Alps some decades ago. The mummy itself is visible through a window, in the refrigerated cell where the 5000 year old man is kept. All artifacts found with the mummy are here too (clothings, shoes, hat, ax, pouch, knife, bow, quiver and arrows, baskets...) and very good explanations are provided in Italian, German and English of each item. Every artifact or any discovery about Ötzi are put into contest of the people life at that time, so the entire museum tells a fascinating history of 3400 years BC. You cannot take pictures of the mummy, but everything else can be photographed. At the end of the tour, you find a museum shop, with good books about Ötzi.

Castello del Buonconsiglio Monumenti e Collezioni Provinciali

The Buonconsiglio Castle is the largest and most important monumental complex of the Trentino Alto Adige region. It was the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento from the 13th century to the end of the 18th century, and is composed of a series of buildings of different eras, enclosed by walls and positioned slightly higher than the city. Castelvecchio is the oldest nucleus, dominated by an imposing cylindrical tower; the Magno Palazzo is the 16th century expansion in the Italian Renaissance-style as commissioned by the Prince-Bishop and Cardinal Bernardo Cles (1485-1539); the Baroque-style Giunta Albertiana dates from the end of the 17th century. At the extreme south of the complex is the Torre Aquila, within which is conserved the famous Cycle of the Months, one of the most fascinating secular pictorial cycles of the late Middle Ages.

My son & I really enjoyed visiting this castle as there are lots of neat sections to visit in the old part. The "newer" parts are interesting as well, & their collection of artifacts & exhibits is impressive. Well worth the reasonable entrance fee. The cafe was also pretty good! Grounds were decorated for the holidays which was also nice. Highly recommended!

The highlight of our stay in Rovereto was certainly a visit to this magnificent Museum of modern and contemporary art. The building itself is a spectacular architectural structure, but its collection is even more exciting. Even for those who don’t appreciate the modern art, it is a very interesting and informative museum with over nine thousand paintings, drawings, sculptures and other exhibits. The focal point of the collection is futurism, represented by work of great artists such as Balla, Depero and Prampolini.

Entrance is 7 euros but free with the Trentino Card. The tablet guide is only 3 euros and well worth it (ID needed of course), especially if like me you didn't know too much about the artist and his strong connections with Rovereto. This museum is part of the MART and is yet another stylish venue to enjoy. The famous'Bolted Book'which publicised his house of Art is here .He was an image consultant for Campari and his poster designs are pretty cool. Easy to appreciate the furniture, tapestries and works on Rovereto itself. Info leaflets in every room. Really helpful staff.

Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra

Housed in the Castle of Rovereto, it is one of the most important Italian museums dedicated to the First World War. It offers two possible itineraries: one is dedicated to the armies and wars of the Nineteenth century and the Great War, with objects, photographs and materials concerning trench warfare and the experience of civilians, the other leads to the discovery of the fortified towers and tunnels of the Castle, housing collections of weapons from prehistoric times to the modern-age.

This museum is located inside the castle of Rovereto and is really very interesting and suitable for everyone. The castle is perfectly maintained and the internal museum is well organized and rich in history. A place absolutely to visit, where you can discover many aspects of the war that you would not normally know. Really beautiful.

Cattedrale di San Vigilio

The Early Christian basilica of Saint Vigilius was built outside the city walls presumably around the end of the fourth century. The structure’s original purpose was as a burial place for the missionaries in Anaunia Sisinius, Martyrius, and Alexander, murdered in the Val di Non by pagans on 29 May 397. Alongside the martyrs Vigilius, the third bishop and the patron saint of Trent was also buried.

Reviewed By thomasozbun - Vicenza, Italy

Built during the 13th century in the Romanesque style, it features some Gothic additions such as the large rose window on the facade and a few features in the interior. Particularly interesting is the baldachin of the main altar built in the 18th century in the Baroque style. Unfortunately, the interior of the Cathedral was being refurbished and the whole left nave was covered in scaffolding. I decided to visit the small archaeological site below the main nave and whose entry ticket was combined with the diocesan museum; this is the site where the early Christian Basilica of St Vigilius used to stand before the present Cathedral was built. The Basilica was built during the 4th century and features mosaics, many old tombs, and a larger room which then served as crypt to the Cathedral.
