The 10 Best Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in San Jose, Province of San Jose

September 28, 2021 Milan Banda

Vibrant and packed with Victorian mansions, Costa Rica's rowdy, bustling capital was built on the profits of the coffee trade and working "golden bean" plantations still surround the city. Try freshly roasted local beans at Mercado Central. For shinier gold, visit the Museo del Oro. Many renovated landmarks now house stylish hotels. Usually viewed as a hub, rather than a destination, nightlife is concentrated in Spanish village-inspired El Pueblo. Don't miss the elegant 1897 National Theater.

My family and I recently returned from a 10-day visit to Costa Rica. Our trip was fantastic, and one of the primary reasons was thanks to our wonderful drivers from ILT who drove us from San Jose to Manuel Antonio, from MA to the Cloud Forest, and from Arenal to San Jose, Our drivers were always prompt, extremely safe, and incredibly friendly. One of our drivers, Damien, found a lost credit card in his car and decided to drop it off at our next destination on his own time to help us out. Another driver drove us to several pharmacies along the way to our destination when our son had an attack of bronchitis. We were so grateful in both instances. In addition, the cars are equipped with Wi-Fi, so our children passed the long car rides without complaining. Cars were clean and comfortable, and the drivers were very engaging and excited to share their beautiful country and culture with us. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone traveling to Costa Rica. They took away all of the travel stress and allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation.

This was a great tour of the history of Costa Rica... the museum takes you through a time tunnel... Beautifully done.. you don’t really need a guide as I think you need time to read everything... we went on our own and paid $33 each and we can visit anytime during our trip. $33 was for 3 museums - 1)jade museum, 2) national museum 3)Pre-Colombian gold museum. The national museum took us all day because there is so much.
