I have to admit some bias as we've been visiting the Bugle Boy since it opened. This is easily my favorite listening room. Patrons are quiet so you can focus on the music. The bands cover all styles and periods of American popular music. If they don't have who you want to see tonight, they may next weekend. We especially enjoy the singer songwriter events. Lot's of great memories of the Bugle Boy and their volunteer crew. And even though they are closed to walk in guests, they are live streaming performances every Saturday.

This is one of the very best retail art galleries that I've ever had the pleasure to go in. Every piece in this shop is made by an artisan that is involved in the development. It includes purses, jewelry, and gifts in addition to paintings and drawings. Just wonderful!

The quilts, of which there were many, were among the most beautiful I've seen. Not only were the Kaffe Fassett quilts spectacular, but the traveling exhibit by Texas quilters (two from my neck of the woods) were equally impressive. I had not known that the exhibits change every few months. I'll be back again and again.

Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center

We visited during an open house and a delightful gentleman gave us a mini tour. It is a beautiful building filled with amazing artifacts, a fantastic library, and a fun gift shop. They had a breathtakingly beautiful nativity set made of olive wood. And the chandelier in the main hall is gorgeous. There are quite a few outbuildings that show life in a simpler time and place. If you are a history buff who likes to learn about other cultures and geography, this is the place for you. We look forward to returning when we have more time!

Blissful Folly Farm

Rohan Meadery is nestled between the small south central Texas communities of La Grange, Round Top & Fayetteville on Blissful Folly Farm. Rohan Meadery is owned & operated by John & Wendy Rohan. The meads are prepared in a Czech style, resulting in a crisp, clean & slightly drier end product. John's great- great grandfather Frank Rohan, immigrated from Moravia (Czech Republic) & settled just south of La Grange in the community of High Hill in the 1880s.

We stopped in to taste the new beers that the Rohans just started making. The beers are very robust and flavorful. You can buy a 4 pack to go and they are in the cutest cans with chickens on them. Wendy, the owner, is a beekeeper so she sells all things “Bee”. Lots of cute things- candles, soaps, vinegars, dippers, etc. and of course she still has her delicious meads. There are chickens and animals outside and a lovely pavilion for outside eating and tasting. A fun place
