This place is amazing. Great view, great wine, superb service. It’s a little bit out of the way - but worth the trip. We tasted some amazing whites and reds. Good price and superb wine. Andrea served us and was impeccable. A full narration of the wine and its history. The wine is not mass produced so is small lot, and is so popular that many styles were not available. But we still managed 9 + wines all of really high quality.

After two very ordinary tasting experiences at other big wineries we were elevated by the quality wines, the cellar door design and the delightful staff member. Highly recommended- we joined the wine club and look forward to lots of that gorgeous rose!

I had planned a day trip for Saturday of the recent Labour Day weekend with several wineries and a lunch in the Pyrenees Wine region of Victoria. (See other my other reviews) Each of the wineries i chose had been rated 5 stars by Halliday a few years ago, and as such i suppose i expect the experience to reflect this. Taltarni Wines did not disappoint. After some other experiences that had not quite hit the mark, it was nice to end the day with this winery. The member of staff at the cellar door was working solo but still managed to juggle the needs of multiple groups of people seamlessly. Her knowledge of the product could not be flawed and offered the right amount of hospitality you expect from a well known (& Halliday rated) vineyard. With around 20 competing vineyards in this region you need to get it right if you expect the public to recommend you over others. I would certainly return to Taltarni on a future visit to the region & happily left with several bottles of wine on this occasion.

Seppelt

Seppelt has been at the forefront of Australian winemaking since 1851. Through a tradition of expert winemaking and a passion for innovation, we are renowned for producing elegant table and sparkling wines from an exceptional collection of vineyards. Open seven days a week, experience the beauty of country Victoria at our historic cellar door for a tasting or to purchase wine, coffee, a light lunch or cheese platter, and step back in time underground with a tour of our heritage-listed cellars, “The Drives” – first excavated in 1868 and the longest in the southern hemisphere.

We came here to do the underground tour and really enjoyed it. We had rung ahead to book which was lucky as they were only running a couple of tours that day. The tour ran for about an hour and was $15 each including some wine tasting at the end. It was really well run and really interesting. I highly recommend this tour - just remember to book so that you are not disappointed.
