El Cabo a Fondo

Boat trips in Cabo de Gata Natural Park El Cabo a Fondo offers boat trips in Cabo de Gata Natural Park, with the possibility of seeing inaccessible places, 200 meter high rugged cliffs where seagulls "float", cormorants dive, terns (charranes) plunge and one of the outlandish spectacles of nature: shoals of flying fish that jump out of the water and literally fly on the surface (this can only be seen during migration). Also we will see volcanic sand beaches that form dunes that delve into the mountain range, rocks with layers of different colors, textures with ghostly forms and caves in the sea where the pale billhook nests..., A magical landscape that still resists the pressure of urbanization that damages the majority of the Mediterranean coast. What an amazing day and what an amazing experience. For my birthday my husband, Kevin Mcwade, treated me to a one to one session at Castellon de Bedar, under the guidance of Clare Purt, jeweller extraordinaire. Having experienced Clare’s workshops, I already had an idea of what to expect, how wrong I was. Shane the resident host and Chef, explained to me that it was my special day and I would be treated like royalty. So not to miss out on the opportunity I rose to the occasion and dusted off my Tiara (1,75€, no expense spared there) ready for the day. So excited, I arrived early (unusual for me) Greeted with ceremony at the door, offered tea and had my pick of workbench (very important)! Clare and I discussed my project for the day. She also explained that she had a number of roles, my personal assistant (wow, someone to order about) but primarily to encourage and develop my skills, my mentor! What a fantastic day. I decided to bring the Crown Jewels for a polish (mostly from Woolworths) and set my PA to the task........ Meanwhile I set about my ‘project’, a vivid blue, Lapis lazuli, yin yang stone to be transformed into a pendant. Lots of advice from Clare and shown new techniques I hadn’t used before. Project completed in a day, photos included Plus a write up from Clare of the techniques I used during the day. And, not forgetting the exceptional chef who excelled himself:- Home made Victoria sponge for coffee break (my favourite) Pigs cheeks in red wine and delicious fresh local vegetables for lunch, plus a surprise guest my husband Kevin . And the climax for the day, canapés and cava! Well what a day , I was still buzzing when I got home. A big thank you to Clare and Shane for an amazing and memorable day. Also a big thank you to Kevin for my birthday treat x
