Bodegas Valdelana is located in the town of Elciego, halfway between Logroño and Vitoria, in the region known as Rioja Alavesa. At Bodegas Valdelana we produce Rioja Denomination of Origin wine. In addition to our wine, Bodegas Valdelana has a museum on the culture and the history of the region. We also have rural accommodation available to our visitors. This winery-museum is built on a cellar dating from the XV and XVI centuries.

The Museum occupies a renovated historic building, offering a varied and extensive exhibition covering 1700m2, distributed into 17 spacious halls. Here the visitor can enjoy the recreation of styles of life, rural and urban, of the inhabitants of the region. The sample is completed with another 2000m2 outside wich include a modern edifice for temporary exhibitions and an open-air theatre.

We found this a very informative visit with lovely helpful staff. It was very interesting to see how playing cards developed over the years and how they were made and the machines that made them. There was no admission charge for this museum.
