Apparently the museum was an initiative by President Pranab Mukarjee. Open to the public. The museum has a wonderful collection of gifts received by the various Presidents during their foreign visits or when visiting dignitaries visit the President. Excellent presentation, wonderful lighting and amazing collection of artifacts. Entry is free. Guide available. The museum is a hidden treasure as it's not aggressively advetised. While at Delhi, this museum is strongly recommend.

A great place to know indian independence struggle and role of mahatma gandhi in it. Visited by many foreign touristers. The place is really well maintained and organised. It even houses a small library with reading facility and also a shop selling khadi products. Located in a beautiful garden is the place where gandhiji was shot dead. Open to public and easily accessible.It is a place worth a visit if u r in Delhi.

While we cannot sustain a day with out internet today...it's makes one pensive walking around this museum.its situated right at the Patel chowk metro station in Dak Bhawan and is well maintained. A collection of stamps reminding us of our history.. ecosystem.. people who who left significant impact on Country's growth..makes one long for the era when receiving a mail via post used to bring a smile to our face.. while greetings the post man for his service. It's a brush with history visit while reminiscing about the centuries gone by!

especially not in one that decontextualizes massively and doesn't allow for worship or even devotion. It is interesting how the musealized Buddhist statues in e.g. the National Museum in Phnom Penh are worshipped; this is allowed - here not. For hygiene reasons (wilting flowers?); for some19th idea of science as museums as part of it? The Buddhist collection of the National Museum is anyway weak and the display just okay (still it is nice), but I would hope restoration of the Holy Relics to a pagoda some time very soon.
