The restaurant has good choices of food, is well prepared and we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Would love to come back on our next trip to Romania.

Lot of room to improve
Reviewed By Radu VI was there for a couple of nights and I must say I was not thrilled. The room I got was at the ground floor of the hotel, but it was in fact below the street level. The result is that anybody from the street can look down through the window and there is a very uncomfortable feeling of lack of privacy. Otherwise, the room was big and comfortable and nice. Another problem was the fact that the door frame simply broke when I tried to open it. Do not imagine I am some kind of muscle guy, I am a physicist (yes, think Sheldon Cooper...) and yet, when I tried to open the door, the frame broke at the door lock - which meant the door was not closing properly anymore. I suspect it was already a bit loose and it just broke the first time I opened it. Although the lady at the reception was there and saw very well what happen, the result is that they asked me to pay for the repair - not much, some 20 EUR, but I find this very unfair. Finally, the breakfast was nothing special, although it was plentiful. What reminded me very much about the old communist times was that I was receiving every morning some breakfast vouchers that I had to give to the waiter. In short, maybe it works if you cannot find something better, but honestly I will avoid returning there.

Reviewed By theladyleeFrom the kind, helpful friendly English-speaking Maria at check-in to the staff on duty the following day, I can't state enough favorable things about this wonderful find. The 5-bed dorm room was comfortable and warm, the pillow was amazingly soft and fluffy and the bunks made of solid wood. Large lockers are in a separate room, and can hold packs of varying sizes. There were four sinks in the ladies room, three separated toilet rooms and a room with three showers (w/curtains). Plenty of space for all. The large common area was comfortable with couches and a coffee table, and smelled heavenly - a room deodorizer or fresh flowers, whatever it was, I wanted to spend all my time there. :-) The guesthouse is close to everything: the nearby town squares, the churches and the tall stone tower, cafes and bars, and all manners of restaurants. It is about 3 kilometers from the bus/train stations, an easy, flat walk. WIFI was strong and appeared to work in the dorm room as well as the common area. Free parking on site for those with own vehicles. It didn't bother me so much but this may impact future guests: Speaking only from the point of view of someone who stayed in the 5-bed dorm, the motion sensor light in the hallway outside the glass dorm door flooded the room with light every time someone walked by (which seemed to happen an awful lot on the weekend nights I stayed). Perhaps a suggestion would be to have the ability of hanging up a thick curtain or blanket on the inside of the door to keep out the light? Just a thought....

Authentic experience
Reviewed By AlinaP1617Even if I have stayed in some other places in Maramures, this is my favorite so far. The house looks amazing, it is decorated in a traditional way and it is so obvious that the hosts pay attention to details (tradional bed sheets for example). Also, here you can have an authentic culinary experience as the lady of the house is an amazing cook and everything she does is so tasty and very important... organic. Definitely a must go place!

Reviewed By alexbC1558LPI'm not wasting usually words with reviews, but: Arrived in Sapanta at "La Conacul Vesel" and had a friendly welcome, as I have been visiting my relatives, with a welcome drink of the Palinca. It has been a while since I have slept so good in a comfortable bed and perfect room temperature. Quiet ambience, love for details, beautiful view over the Funny Cemetery. The breakfast was the best I have had in over 500 hotels... Number 1 for me! ?

Beyond Expectations
Reviewed By gingbThis restaurant is along the highway, probably the only restaurant for a very very very long stretch of highway. We were expecting the usual tourist offers. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was very hearty, extremely well seasoned and in huge servings. Waiters were very attentive, despite the language barrier. Price? Not bad considering the quality of the food. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By Alexandra LZestrea brebului is one of the best places we ever staid. The hosts are were extremlly welcoming the place is very cozy. For anyone that choose to stay here the meals that the host prepares are a must. Spotless cleaning, comfortable beds, amazing pool.
