The 10 Best Spas & Wellness in Montecatini Terme, Tuscany

March 16, 2022 Sheron Bogner

The largest and most famous of Tuscany’s spa towns, Montecatini Terme has been revered for its curative waters since at least the 16th century, when the first baths were built here. Two centuries later, neighborhood royalty began to take note after the opening of the town’s first grand spas, putting Montecatini Terme firmly on the aristocracy's radar. Beyond the array of fine spas featuring treatments old and new, today’s visitors come for the shopping, dining and sporting offerings, as well.

Terme di Montecatini

Treat yourself to a full-body mud bath, a facial, soothing massage or Turkish bath at this elegant century-old spa located in a magnificent park setting.

I went with my sister and cousin. We each had face/body massage, mud bath, soak in thermal waters and massage. It cost each of us 120 euros. We booked ahead and took the train there from Florence. Some people stay overnight in the town where there are many hotels. Looks like the town is a summer family vacation spot, too. The actual thermal waters are in another nearby building. Bring pool sandals and bathing costume for that, and go there before the massage. You can also walk a trail near the spa and take a small trip up the mountainside to the castle town. Phone +39 0572 7781. Good experience. Can take the train to the town and 5 minutes taxi to the spa.

We’ve came to Montecatini presuming there is a place of thermal baths while didn’t have enough time to consider it properly. And we were disappointed when didn’t find the hot baths and thermal water places, we’ve drove all around and not succès to find a spa place. And we were so lucky to find Adua - their spa complex and welcoming were much more than we were able to expect) thanks a lot to all the team who made us those great impressions))) We came in half an hour to closing time of the spa meanwhile we team allowed us to enjoy it and pay very reasonable price - the spa facility is on very-very top level - jacuzzi bath is excellent, Turkish bath made in full accordance with best spa traditions, hot and warm massage pools, hydro massage showers with 9 different options- all of that is just a paradise for travelers’ souls. Moreover we were proposed very tasting Prosecco after visit. If we knew the place in advance we would definitely stay here for couple of days and we would enjoy to return

Montecatini is known for it's waters for what ails you. We decided to try this and was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look like much, but ask for the pool entrance. For 13 euros you go into the healing waters that is 98.6 body temperature. There are huge jets to fun on your body, together with items you can work out with in the water.
