Puncak or Puncak Pass (Indonesian for "top" or "peak") is a mountain pass in West Java, Indonesia. The area is a common weekend destination for residents of Jakarta,[citation needed] including for those who are longing for clean air and natural scenery. The pass connects the city of Bogor and Bandung, and is spread within the regencies of Bogor, Cianjur, and Sukabumi. Puncak Pass is located on the ridge to the north of Mt.Gede-Pangrango. The highest point of the pass is about 1500 m altitude. We were picked up from our hotel by Eddy from Lakara travel. It took about 3-hour drive through the highway to Bandung. Bangdung is a great tourist town with so much to see, we enjoyed a much cooler tropical weather than Jakarta. The Museum of the Asian-African Conference is a must to learn about the history of Indonesia. We were lucky to have Eddy as our local guide, he speaks excellent English and knows a frightening amount about his country, we asked so many questions and he patiently took us through the history, culture and religions of Indonesia. We stayed two nights at the city center with Chic cafes and restaurants along the street. The next day was really packed, the highlight was the Tangkuban Perahu volcano which is really beautiful and at the Ciater Hot spring , we got to mixed with the very friendly local tourist who also enjoyed a great time there, and the late night shopping at the factory outlets of course. Eddy was always courteous, super patient and totally understand our need, I definitely have to thank him for the perfect lunch and dinner, sampling of local speciality food and desert provided a rich experience beyond words. Overall the trip was fantastic, comfortable and 100% value for money, the only suggestion may be if the shopping stop at a factory outlet could be arranged on the first day of the trip, we may have more time for a shopping spree. Thank you Lakara travel.

This is undoubtedly the best experience I had in Indonesia... I reached while it was pitch dark and the moon was just rising above the stupa... that view was so mesmerising that I was happy even if I don’t see any sunrise due to clouds... but I was lucky and the clouds were just enough to make it a perfect sunrise... the foggy morning also added the charm in the view... it was quite and a beautiful morning with less people around... and not to mention that the stupa made in speechless once I explored it while returning from the top to the bottom of it... I then finished the exploration since the general public admission started and then there was a lot of crowd... I was glad to make a sunrise plan to avoid the crowd and to enjoy moments of peace! PS. The breakfast at Manohara restaurant is included in the entry ticket and was surely not to be missed ????

I looked hard for this specific tour as it included the Borobudur sunrise along with Prambanan temple, but it also included Candi Mendut. We were picked up at 3:30 AM by Anang. Anang was a courteous, careful driver who spoke passable English and I was immediately comfortable with him. Anang was the main reason I really enjoyed this trip. We arrived at the Manohara restaurant where he offered us an English speaking guide. My daughter and I wanted a very quiet experience so I hesitated Unfortunately there were no guides left when I decided to get one, but Anang saved us a great deal of time by walking us to the temple entrance and showing us a great place to sit at the top. The sunrise was stunning. The way the sun glowed off the structures within the temple and through the fog surrounding the temple made the experience unforgettable, and well worth the 3:30 AM pickup. We then toured the ship museum and saw the full size Samudraraska ship (well with the small amount of extra money). We then ate a nice breakfast in the restaurant. We drove to two smaller temples including Candi Mendut. Though smaller, this temple was quite pretty. As a bonus, we met a puppet maker (one of the true local skilled craftsmen) and visited a Kopi Luwak coffee producer where we had a quite delightful cup of coffee and met an actual civit. We then visited the Prambanan temples complex. Our English speaking guide was Harris. Harris was amazing, both in his enthusiasm and in his knowledge of the temples. Harris was definitely the second reason I enjoyed the trip as much as I did. He was able to tell us about each of the statues inside the temples and even related the story of Rama and the monkey king carved into the stone of the Main temple. Prambanan was an amazing sight and an important part of the Javan heritage. We returned to the hotel (in Yogyakarta) around 2 PM. It was a very pleasant day and I felt like all my expectations had been fully realized. Thank you Anang and Harris

This was a beautiful tour except for the fact that it rained the whole time. The temples were beautiful, our guides friendly and attentive, and it was just too bad that it tipped it down the whole time and that put a dampener on the experience.

This tour was great! Our family loved it, including our teenage kids. Mr. Thomas was an excellent tour guide! He spoke very good English and provided history and context at every location. There was good time at every location to see the sites and Thomas allowed us the flexibility to choose if we wanted to stay longer or continue on. Though some of the attractions were closed due to COVID-19, alternate sites were included and it was still a very good trip. The transportation was clean, had nice air conditioning, and provided bottled water. Overall, we really enjoyed it and recommend this tour to everyone!

While its worth a day out and there is a lot to see and do (especially for kids) somehow it also feels like there is more potential that hasn't been reached. The actual floating market doesn't need a boat to get to, you can just walk it, and it's more like a large pond than anything else. There's plenty of crafts to buy and places to eat, plus train rides and rabbits and that sort of thing which kids would enjoy. Would recommend for about half a day.
