Daniel, our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us everything from the oldest parts of Bogota to the new parts of the city and the plans for the future. This was a last minute trip so I had not done much research into Bogota prior to my trip. The guided tour through the city and to Mount Monserrate made the trip worth while. Daniel was also very patient with my limited Spanish.

The question that leads us to design our routes is ¿why a traveler who visits Bogotá, talks to us about Monserrate, Candelaria and Paloquemao as a local life if our local life are the neighborhoods, the streets and the places that we and our friends visits in our free time and on the weekends? Let's visit Usaquén in the north of Bogotá, Usaquen has a bohemian, classy and cultural feel being in the north of the city. I will introduce you to many cool places around it in this order: 1. A public treasury: to learn a bit the history of the area 2. A cafe: For a taste of Colombian coffee 3. A Restaurant: To eat empanadas 4. A terrace: For a taste of Kombucha (if you don´t like there you have more options) 5. A independent design build: To see colombian design brands. 6. An old Rum house: To drink a cocktail with colombian Rum. We spend between 20 - 30 minutes in some places to have the experiences, while we walk across the complete neighborhood, wich is full of old and charming houses.

This was my fourth and final tour in Bogota, and it ended with a bang (good bang!). I visited Bogota with a friend but he wasn’t feeling well so I decided to do the tour alone. I was running late to this tour since my last tour ended later than it should have, but Angela (tour guide) assured me it was fine. In fact, I was the only one on this tour so it wasn’t a huge deal, but I really appreciate that Angela was super flexible. I was a little nervous being the only person on the tour but all my worries went away the moment me and Angela linked up. The conversation was great throughout the night and the drinks were superb. If you really like cocktails, then you will really enjoy this tour. Though I’m sure the last place was a part of the tour, I loved how Angela was great about me ordering a Columbian Beer. She listened to an earlier comment I made about loving beer and thought I would really enjoy some of the local Colombian beers at this spot. Also, lastly Angela is super cool host who was born in Bogota. You’re not only getting great drinks on this tour, but Angela is also super knowledgeable about Bogota and Chapinero. Her English is great as well! Lastly, she isn’t a part of some tourist company chugging out tour after tour after tour. This is her own company and everything comes out of her own pocket. It’s admirable to see her running her own business and being her own boss! I highly recommend this tour!

If you want to discover the deep reality of the colombian capital you should join me in this experience trying to see and understand the configuration of the colombian society, we will not see colonial architecture, museums or fancy streets, we will go through the south neighborhoods of Bogota by using one of the most innovative transportation system in the world, Tansmilenio and Transmi Cable (Cable car). Bogota has different faces and this a really interesting one you dont want to miss. First of all, we take the Transmilenio (BRT System) direction to Tunal Station and reach the Cable Care used by 700.000 locals everyday as their main transportation system. We will go to the last station Paraiso, and walk around in a deteriorated urban district by the violence and poorness in the past, trying to improve its habitants and surroundings through the education, urban renovation, sports and art equipments.

In Zipaquirá, 50 kilometers coming out from the northside of Bogotá, is the largest salt mine in Colombia. Although the mines date back to the time of the Muiscas, primitive inhabitants of the region have been intensively exploited, they continue to have enormous reserves. In the heart of the mountain, an underground salt cathedral was dug, in what constitutes a monumental work of engineering, architecture, and design. The huge interior can be 25 meters high, with a capacity of 10,000 people. It is the most visited tourist attraction in Colombia.

This tour was a great surprise in our short time spent in Colombia. Although we had to rush to get to the airport right after the tour, the company did everything to help us and the driver dropped us off at the airport with no extra cost. Our driver, Alex, drove very safely and was very friendly and polite. Our guide, Jhon Fredy, was simply the best guide we ever had in all of our travels! He knew everything about the places we went, was very friendly with everyone, and made us feel very comfortable the whole time. It was clear that they weren't there just for the money - they really care about their customers. It really exceeded our expectations!

Had a private day tour to Guatavita and the Salt Cathedral from Bogota. Everything was well organised from pick up from the hotel till drop off. Andrea was an excellent guide. Helped with the translation at Guatavita and waited patiently for me while I visited the Salt Cathedral. Also helped me take pics. Had a great time chatting with her during the trip. Highly recommended.
