The 10 Best Sights & Landmarks in Wieden, Vienna Region

In Vienna, the coffee house isn’t just a hangout: it’s an institution. Lingering over a newspaper with a pastry and a strong espresso drink is, according to UNESCO, officially a Viennese cultural pastime. Walk off your slice of Sachertorte with a self-guided tour of the city’s stunning traditional, Secessionist, and modern architecture, such as the Imperial Palace, the State Opera House, the Kirche am Steinhof, or the Kunsthistorisches Museum, an exercise in ornate geometry.

Mozart Requiem Karlskirche

The concerts are performed by the Choir Cantus XVII and the Soloists of the Salzburg Concert Society as well as the Orchestra 1756 (on period instruments). All together there are more than 40 musicians on stage. In Vienna you will not find another concert to experience Mozart and his surrounding mystique in a more authentic, more profound or more typical way.

What a stylish subway station. It is still in use. It tells you something about the Viennese's love of architecture. Otto Wagner is one of their most cherished architects.

Hochstrahlbrunnen

This is a wonderful spot to sit and simply relax. The Soviet War Memorial is a draw for tourists, while the locals take time out at sunset during the summer to cool off. Its a pleaant not overly crowded place, with kids enjoying the outing. you'll see groups sitting with their drimks and snacks chatting and enjoying. The beautiful fountain lighting comes on as the sun sets. Its so relaxing and lovely to see the colours changing from pink to greeen, blue, yellow and purple. It's worth going there for an evening . However if you want a good spot to sit around the fountain and feel the spray at times, you need to get there before the lights come on. In my opinion its one of Vienna's worth visiting sites.
