Stelvio Pass

What a fabulous place to go. Named as the 7th or 8th toughest mountain climb on a road bike in Europe it’s worthy of its special position. We did it in snow and it made for an amazing adventure. Probably not very clever though on the way down. Watch out it gets incredibly cold on your hands and arms going down hill at speed. And yes we had every kind of top and under garment on! It’s just a killer! Watch out for black ice and be careful with the mountain tunnels! The views are fab but we missed it all due to snow and mist. But we enjoyed it still the same. An amazing adventure you’ll never forget. Enjoy!!

Rock Engraving Park of Grosio

Guided tours at 10.30, 14.00 and 16.00! The Rock Engraving Park is a unique combination of the archaeological, architectural, historical and even landscape patrimony of various ages of the Valtellina. The Park was founded in 1978 to conserve, study and develop the Cultural Heritage on the Castle Hill (Dosso dei Castelli). Next to the two castles, the Castello Vecchio (Old Castle) from the 10th-11th century and the Castello Nuovo (New Castle) from the 14th century, even a system of dry-stone terraces, how it is typically for the Valtellina, is surrounding the Castle Hill. But special and singular is the Rupe Magna, a large rock which contains more than 5.000 engraved figures from the 4th to the 1st millennium B.C.

Lovely yet challenging ride from Bormio. Great scenery along the whole route. Plenty of motorcycle traffic to contend with, so caution is required. Was a wonderfully warm day, however I'm sure it could get a little chilly at the top.
