My friend and I did the olive picking experience. We were taught about growing olives and shown how they are picked, then we helped pick the olive from a tree they picked out for us. Appreciate the work and skill that goes into growing, harvesting and processing olives into extra virgin olive oil that is the purest and most delicious olive oil you will ever taste. Fabio, one of the family that owns the farm, and Luca our guide, made the experience the best time we had in Italy. We had a lovely lunch on the farm on a beautiful sunny warm day. We ordered some of the oil that would be made with the olives that we helped pick. It came today and we are enjoying the experience all over again. We have already decided we want to go back again! Please don't miss this experience it is the best time you will have!!!

What a wonderful experience. My wife booked it for our wedding anniversary and we were joined by my son 28 and daughter 22. Beautiful location just outside san miniato in a fabulous villa where we were introduced to the real star ‘Ciocco’ the dog. A couple of hours spent in the woods and we found two decent sized winter white truffles and a huge edible boletus mushroom. We returned to the villa where the truffles and mushroom were turned into a delicious lunch by Francesa’s mother served with beautiful olive oil from the estate and two of their own wines both excellent. Honestly though the day may seem expensive at first the experience and the wonderful hospitality were well worth the price. We left full of pasta, meat and truffles with some of that lovely oil and wine and gift of honey again from the estate. Wonderful experience thank you to Francesca, your delightful mother and of course Ciocco who we all wanted to bring back to England.

Looking for somewhere off the beaten track and found San Miniato. Caught the train from Pisa and then a taxi up from San Miniato train station (€12) to the old town. Walked to the top of the hill and scaled the tower (€3.5/p) and rewarded with superb views. Well worth a visit but note that the buses don’t seem to run on Sundays, hence the taxi.

I got amazed by this church beauty. If anything is a must to see in San Miniato it is this church. I have been to many churches but this one is number one.
