Calle San Pedro

Calle San Pedro is one of the charming old streets of Hondarribia. We pretty much walked along almost all of them and admired the medieval feel of this amazingly preserved historic town. Calle San Nicolas is also lovely and walking down all the way to the Paseo de Bidasoa is very pleasant.

Plaza de Armas

Reviewed By Noraatc - Sudbury, United States

Plaza de Armas is a gem of the Hondarribia old town dominated by the mighty medieval fortress known as the Castle of Charles V, which is a home to the imposing Parador de Hondarribia now. You can sample some really good pintxos in several colorful taverns (we really liked the tavern called “Antxiña”), admire the views of the sea, walk around the Castle, buy souvenirs in the lovely boutiques... Such a wonderful place to enjoy the charms of the Basque Country.

I enjoyed two months in a wonderful community. Basque people are great. They are fine cooks, artisans, fisherman and hosts. Hondarribia offers beauty on every corner along with a bus stop, bakery, cafe or bar.

Iglesia parroquial de Santa Maria de la Asuncion y del Manzano

Reviewed By DP49

This fabulous Gothic style church dominates the Old Town. Unfortunately, we were only able to appreciate it’s impressive exterior since it was not open during our Monday afternoon visit. Adding to our frustration, there was no signs posted showing what hours the church is open to the public. If you wish to view the interior then inquire ahead of your visit.
