Baclayon Church

One of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines.

We stopped by Baclayon Church - an old church founded by the Jesuits in the 1500s - on our way back to the seaport. PROS: The facade itself will take you back in time, and the interior will give you a sense of history and make you reflect on how deeply rooted the Spanish influence really is in the Philippines. WHAT TO EXPECT: The church is along the road on the way to the seaport. You might spend a lot of time looking up to marvel at the paintings on the ceiling. The church is open for all, but there is a museum on the second floor that you have to pay an entrance fee for. There are a lot of souvenir vendors around, mostly selling Bohol kalamay. (As a side note, the kalamay itself is delicious, but if you plan to take some home, put it in your check-in luggage, as the airport will not allow you to bring it in your carry-on baggage.)
