If you like nature and love forest this place is definitely for you. It is just around 100km away from Vilnius which is not far. You can take the path and go on tower with amazing views or can have a good walk around forest or along the river bank. I think the best views from tower would be during autumn and in winter.

I drove 3 hours from Vilnius to Utena, Stelmuze, just to see the Stelmuze Oak tree. It is the oldest Oak in Lithuania and one of the oldest in Europe. I was over thrilled just to see it. The drive there was refreshing and lots of country raods and lovely sceneries, churches and history. When I got there the place was on lock, no offices opened. No one around, it was also snowing heavily. No washroom facilities were opened also. The tree looked dead without leave but it was winter so it was expected not to have leaves. It was propped up like an old person. I am really happy I got to see this tree in person. I will recommend a visit here. Forget how the tree looks but know you are looking at history with thus tree being centuries old.

1) important to Lithuania history; 2) children like go around this big stone: 3) close to this place, just some km you can visit brother of this stone; 4) in front of stone made monument for two Lithuanian pilots who in 1933 first to cross Atlantic ocean with air plane "Lituanica"; 5) in 1943 stone was hidden in the house (the house was built in the background), it was safe to make monument (because II world war); 6) on the board near stone write interesting legend, history and some geological facts, interesting to read; 7) around nice place to be with family;
