Matoyianni Street

The streets are very narrow with lots of shops and colourful ceramic displays. There are also places to stay in this area and lots of places to take very picturesque photographs. It’s always very busy in this area, but that’s all part of the attraction.

Largely rebuilt by the Italians this is a very beautiful building - lovely views from the windown and lots and lots of interesting stuff for history buffs - beautiful mosaic floors nicked from Kos. You do get a feel for how the palace was during the crusades.

The Castle of St Nicholas

This place is absolutely amazing! This is the spot from where people take pictures of the famous Oia windmills, although many people know this and take advantage of this making it a very popular destination for tourists during sunset. Best time to go here would be after dark. You'll have the place to yourself and get the gift of seeing the beauty of Santorini being bathed in ambient light!

Sunset in Oia

Reviewed By iaink2001 - Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom

I'm so glad I managed to get to travel to Santorini and take in it's beautiful sights. If you get a chance it's an island you must visit at least once in your lifetime, amazing white washed villages against the blue and volcanic backdrop is a site to behold. Although the sunset wasn't as good as normal when I went to Oia, as there were clouds on the horizon which covered the sun in it's final moments before dipping into the Aegean. Even in these times there's still a large crowd that gathers on every spare vantage point, so give yourself a bit of time before sunset and get ready with your camera, you won't regret it.

Archaeological Site of Delos

Reviewed By humuhumu_fish - Bolton, United States

We took the Ancient Delos tour through our cruise ship, but anyone else can do this as well. A round trip ferry takes you from the old port in Mykonos to the island of Delos where you can walk among the archaeological ruins of Delos. We spent a couple of hours on Delos and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. If you have time, I recommend hiking up towards the temple of Isis on the path to the right of the museum building. The views from up there were great and hardly anyone ventured that direction (my son and I had it to ourselves).
