Shri Ganesh Temple

Reviewed By AmiMORE - Mumbai, India

Ganesha Idol is very superb with right ended trunk and eyes are beautifully done. Very clean when we went and peaceful as not much crowded. Ganapti foot print is 5 mins by walk from main temple and location is really good. Must try authentic juices on sell by local vendors. Beautiful hilltop temple easily accessible by car. Ample parking available, no hassles by flower sellers like other temples. Photographs are not allowed inside the temple and not of idol. Temple surroundings are very photogenic. Toddlers can climb on 2 elephant statues and have their pictures taken. There were many turtles swimming and enjoying sunshine in the well in front of it. One beautiful tree of Parijataka is nearby which blossoms the fragrance around it, one can enjoy sitting underneath and collect the fragrance of fallen flowers. Another thing that fascinated me was the colour of temple walls are not 'oil-painted' like other temples in Maharashtra. Best time to go is early morning or around sunset.

One has to visit this place as it is said to be built in a day by the Pandavs. The Keshavraj mandir is situated on a hilltop and one needs to climb around 200+ steps to reach this spot. The walk through the dense trees is an amazing experience. Do make sure you visit this atleast once.

Magnificent statue over an humongous globe. When inside the globe there is no central support. Great architecture and the sight from the hilltop is awesome. Must visit.

Dhootpapeshwar Temple

Reviewed By explore_n_enjoy - Navi Mumbai, India

It is an ancient and famous temple in Rajapur taluka, situated 5 k.m. away from Rajapur town. The temple is situated on the bank of Mrudani River. Natural beauty around it is extraordinary. At the both sides of the temple there are huge mountains and a river flows through it making it more beautiful. The Mrudani River jumps from the high mountain so there is a beautiful waterfall near the temple. Some tourists come to see the waterfall. The best period to watch this waterfall is between July to November. During the period there is plenty of water. The arial prop roots of hundreds of years old Banyan tree, just outside the temple, resemble like the jatas of Lord Shiva. The peace of mind that can be experienced here along with such clean and pure surroundings is what all devotees come looking for at Dhootpapeshwar. The Shiv linga in the temple is adorned with beautiful flowers found in the premises around the temple. A big festival takes place here during the Mahashivratri. This place is filled with devotees on Shravani Somwar and Vijyadashmi. We went by Car and had to go down in a narrow road surrounded by trees and beautiful nature. Upto reaching point, it was Okay, but there was some space problem for parking, as space was very little and some road construction/repair work was going on at the temple end of road.

Aryadurga Devi Temple

Reviewed By KshitijP53 - Ahmedabad, India

Devi Arya Durga: Goddess of the local village DEVI HASOL and Kul Devi (FAmily Goddess) of many KARHADE BRAHMINS. Devi hasol is a small village of population roughly of 500+ near Rajapur Village (30 kms approx) and Ratnagiri (50 kms Approx.) I have seen this beautiful temple transform from Nothing to Very beautiful place. I have been visiting this temple since 1992. Few years back this place was a deserted place with no traces of humans upto miles and many Kms. Local people and few Karhade Brahmins of which Goddess is a family goddess formed a trust to serve goddess. The name of the trust is SHRI ARYA DURGA TRUST:DEVI HASOL. Giving the full contact and other details after this review. The temple is located between beautiful mountains and greenary. There are different ways to reach this place. 1) Take a train from Mumbai (Dadar) to Goa Train number 01033. This train departs from CST mumbai from night 00:20 and Reached RAJAPUR ROAD station at next morning 9:40 am. There are Auto Rickshaws that take you to the temple at about 800 -900 (approx). The temple is far away from RAJAPUR Station and might take 1:30-2 hours. 2) Pune-Rajapur: there is a MSRTC bus from Pune at 11:30 pm which reaches RAJAPUR next morning around 7:30 am. From there you can take a Auto Ricksahaw (charges around 500-600). 3) Mumbai-Bhalavli MSRTC bus: This is the best mode to reach the temple. MSRTC bus departs from Mumbai Central ST depot at 17:30 and Reaches Arya Durga Temple the next morning 615 am. Though the schedule arrival time at the temple is 4:00 am, Mumbai traffic makes it impossible for the bus to get out of Mumbai and thus the bus finally reaches the temple @615 am. The best thing about this mode of transport is that you get down just outside the temple. Also MSRTC buses are the safest to travel in. The only bad thing about the travel is NOT WELL MAINTAINED MSRTC buses. The bus is way too old and not maintained making a JERKY and NOISE ENTERTAINING Journey, but still from the point of safety this is the best option to choose from. The ticket rate is 630 rs pp. The same bus departs from Bhalavali at 16:00 and pick ups at Arya Durga mandir at 16:08 (to be exact) and reached Mumbai Central the next morning 3:30 am. The bus staff is very punctual in time. Services at the temple: There is BHAKT NIVAS at the temple. You can book your Stay, Food and Other things related to the pooja by calling the VYAVASTHAPAK (organiser). PADHYE family which stays at the Mandir prepares delicious food, Tea and even Breakfast. But all this only if you inform the trust authority before. All this at a very minimal cost. We three of our family had morning Tea, Breakfast (Poha) and Lunch (Puran poli, Roti, Sabzi, Dal and Rice) at just 440 Rs. If you want to perform Abhishek at the Temple you have to inform the organiser so that he can prepare everything as there are many people (now) who perform Abhishek. The BHAKT NIVAS (rooms) are very clean and tidy. You get Hot water for Bath, A bed, Good quality Pillows and SOLAPURI chadar. The Stay at night costs Rs. 500 (the new rooms). Do carry your own Towel, Soap etc etc. (Just FYI). As this place is still isolated you will a find a never experienced Peace and Calmness at the temple. You can even spot FOX(s) nearby. If you want to really have a best time. Visit the temple when it is dark . Sit before the goddess looking into her eyes. You will really find that she is looking back at you. As it is Deaf Silent nearby it gives a unique experience to meditate and BE WITH YOURSELF (but it needs a good amount of GUTS :) as it is way too dark and silent outside). I will recommend a night stay with family and friends for the best experience and small picnic.

Gateway of Ratnagiri

Reviewed By Footprints727663

I went to Gateway of Ratnagiri. It is a structure with a slopped roof in the Ratnagiri jetty with Mandavi beach. The beach itself is a treat to eyes. The slope is a defense artwork build by Pratinidhi Dhondu Bhaskar, according to a popular belief. It is great place to go.
