Just to wander around and explore is a great way to spend time in old Cadiz. Plenty of tiny alleys, small squares, churches and interesting building facades. 13th century El Populo at it's heart with entrance arches is a great place to begin. Plenty of tiny shops too if you like shopping along with small bars and cafes.

La Vina

My wife and I had an Airbnb apartment in La Vina during our brief stay in Cadiz this past November. We were located on the Plaza de la Candelaria in the middle of historic Cadiz. We enjoyed being among the locals and out of the tourist area. Our first night was Halloween night and it was interesting to see the parents take their costumed children around to neighborhood businesses. It is a lively area.

My husband and I both found this site fascinating. We showed up at the box office around 11:30 and got free tickets for the one o’clock tour. Our guide spoke both Spanish and English and after the introductory film (subtitled in English) we were free to walk around the clearly described remains of Phoenician homes and streets. Our guide asked if we had any questions and spent a good half hour explaining things to us. She was very knowledgeable and we felt lucky to have her to ourselves. If you’re interested in history this is definitely worth seeking out.

Plaza de la Candelaria

Reviewed By Razorfish - Little Rock, United States

My wife and I were fortunate enough to have booked an Airbnb apartment at 10 Candelaria on Plaza de la Candelaria during a brief visit to Cadiz this past November. It is a lovely square a few blocks from the cathedral in historic Cadiz. As we went in and out of our Airbnb there seemed to be many locals casually visiting with one another in this well landscaped park area. The plaza made for a relaxing stay in this inviting neighborhood.
