During the Civil War, Knoxville's Mabry-Hazen House served as headquarters for both the Confederate and Union armies. Today you can visit the house and other historic homes in this eastern Tennessee city. Among Knoxville's other attractions are museums, a zoo and World's Fair Park, site of the 1982 World's Fair. University of Tennessee sports draw lots of fans, as does the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. To see Knoxville from the water, take a leisurely riverboat ride down the Tennessee River.

Lakeshore Park occupies a large land area on the bank of the Tennessee River near the University of Tennessee campus and downtown Knoxville. It is a very scenic location, with large grassy areas, ball fields, a paved walking trail around the perimeter of the park and two playgrounds for the early elementary and the pre-school set.

Wish there were parks like this back where im from in north carolina. Its huge. The walking trail id you walk it from where the playground is to the bottom where the school is, is a little over three miles and i burn a little over 600 calories each time i go walk. My kids absolutely love the duck pond and the horses at the bottom of the path. We go here almost every evening just to kick a ball around n get outside. A really nice place. Only complaint is no one ever picks up after their dogs and there is as lot of feces along the walking path and people like to throw trash just anywhere cause the only trash cans are located along the loop. But other than that a very nice park...just wish they would put in a sand box..my kids love playing in the sand at the volley ball field but its always do crowded.
