The 10 Best Piers & Boardwalks in New York, United States

January 3, 2022 Concepcion Newsome

New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Canandaigua City Pier

I live in Canandaigua and never get tired of this view. Whether you’re on the water or driving the circle (hopefully with an ice cream cone from Scoops) you need to stop and take a look. They change with the seasons and the weather, but they are always a welcoming, familiar site. A must see if you’re on the Lake.

Riegelmann Boardwalk

What a great experience to stroll the boardwalk along Coney Island. It is not the same as in the 50's and 60's like when I was a kid but still has the spark and energy during the summer time especially at night all lit up with the music and excitement the rides give along the side of the broadwalk. Some Friday nights there is Fireworks after the local Baseball Game.

Coney Island

Home to famous rides like the Cyclone Roller Coaster, the Wonder Wheel and the Parachute Jump, this historic seaside section of Broooklyn is about an hour by train from Manhattan.

Reviewed By neilb119 - Brooklyn, United States

Coney Island may be on of the best known places in New York City. Located at the southern end of Brooklyn, Coney has a fascinating history and for amusement park fans a redeveloped amusement park with a combination of classic rides (The Cyclone Roller Coaster and Wonder Wheel) and new rides for only the most daring! In addition to sitting on the beach, no visit to Coney Island would be complete without a stop at the Freak Show, a visit to the Coney Island History Project and a walk to the Russian neighborhood via the boardwalk!
