The 10 Best Photography Tours in Island of Hawaii, Hawaii (HI)

October 7, 2021 Sachiko Swiger

Life on the Big Island is a little bit slower… and locals like it that way. The natural beauty and ecological features of the island are a draw for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Test your chutzpah at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home to the longest volcanic eruption in recorded history, or climb to the indescribably beautiful summit of Mauna Kea. At the end of the day, there’s nothing more refreshing than a quivering plate of fresh poke, followed by a fruity shave ice.

Captain Rick and Amazing Amanda were truly spectacular hosts / guides! I really enjoyed it...and we saw big dolphins, small whales, spinner dolphins (with babies), and tons of snorkeling at Capt Cook. One of the highlights of the trip! An added benefit....the lunch they serve had fantastic bread for their sandwiches! I was pleasantly surprised considering this was not a Hugh expectation of a quick day trip!

This was a very informative tour . Our guide Derek was so knowledgeable of both local and historical information. He kept everyone hands on inter active. Great personality and sense of humor. Definitely recommend layers of clothing, you will experience several climate changes. Sunny flip flops, rain, windy cold and hiking shoes. You won’t be sorry you over packed. Light lunch at the Bay View Coffee Farm had amazing views . You will never be as close to an active volcano ever again. My favorite was the Black Sand / Turtle Beach,so beautiful, and the Lava Tube. The diner at Lava Rock is outstanding. Definitely recommend this tour however it is a full day.

What a trip! Easy pick up, comfortable transport, small group and lots of interesting facts along the way about the island, geography, volcanoes. Stopped at the visitors centre for a tasty early dinner. Had some great views on the final drive up to the summit. The sunset was amazing, high above the clouds with a clear sky, and saw across to Maui. The parkas and gloves they provided were definitely needed as with the wind chill it was about -10c! Our guide Steve was very knowledgeable, learnt a lot about stars and the constellations, saw plenty of satellites, some shooting stars, and we ended the evening with some great photos of us at the summit and the night sky.

We booked a Localgrapher for a couples shoot in Arizona. The results were okay at best, and we regretted not seeking out an established local in the area. For the price, we received 60 very average choices and the ability to select 35 shots. We couldn’t even find 35 framed correctly. The localgrapher website is also a joke which requires a youtube video to figure out. The UI is terrible and the photos will disappear rapidly so do not wait to download (set aside a couple hours - that’s how bad it is). But really, just avoid. Hire someone directly.

We use flytographer all over the world when we travel, but it was fun to do a shoot here in Victoria during COVID. I would highly suggest if you're looking for good photos of your family.
